Odyssey Theatre Ensemble in association with Los Angeles City College Theatre Academy presents Our Lady of 121st Street by Stephen Adly Guirgis for eight performances, today, Oct. 24 through Nov. 1, as part of the Odyssey's student outreach program THE ODDS.

The final evening of East Lynne Theater Company's and The Cape May Film Society's Sunday Film Series is also the last day of The Cape May Film Festival: Sunday, October 19. Under the title 'Spooky Comic Silent Shorts,' the main feature is 'Habeas Corpus' starring Stan Laurel and Oliver Hardy, but there will also be animated films and a few surprises - all just in time for Halloween. And all accompanied live by organist Wayne Zimmerman.

The Harris Theater for Music and Dance has announced new dates for previously scheduled performances, including Chicago Opera Theater's production of Queenie Pie and Music of the Baroque's Handel & Bach-Italian Style. The Joffrey Ballet's Winning Works: Choreographers of Color Awards will now take place on March 1 at the Broadway Playhouse at Water Tower Place (175 East Chestnut Street). New dates for the Harris Theater Presents performances of Alonzo King LINES Ballet are still to be determined. Patrons who hold tickets for the LINES Ballet performances previously scheduled for February 27 and 28 will be contacted by a Box Office representative once new dates are confirmed.

The Harlem Renaissance was a cultural movement which spanned the period from about 1919 to 1929. It was the literary era when members of the Great African American Migration, Negroes who had moved into the U.S. Northeast and Midwest, asserted themselves in art, poetry, literature and theatre. Participants included James Wendell Johnson, Cleveland's Langston Hughes, and Countee Cullen.

Crossroads Theatre Company kicks off its 2012 - 2013 season of insightful, compelling and entertaining plays with Charles Smith's acclaimed KNOCK ME A KISS, a fictionalized look at the drama surrounding the ill-fated marriage of W.E.B. Du Bois' daughter. The production is directed by Chuck Smith (no relation to the author). Saundra McClain directs Phillip Brandon (national tour: The Color Purple), Niketa Calame (Celebration Theatre's The Color Purple), Amber Mercomes (San Francisco and Los Angeles Opera productions of Porgy and Bess), Lacy Darryl Phillips (Broadway: Fosse and A Raisin in the Sun) and Jennifer Shelton (first national tour of Ragtime; previously seen on the ICT stage in Songs for a New World, Five Course Love, The Story, Honk! and Swinging on a Star), with musical direction by Rahn Coleman and choreography by Stephen Semien. Performances take place October 12 through November 4 at International City Theatre in the Long Beach Performing Arts Center, with low-priced previews beginning tonight, October 9.

The Howard Theatre, the historic arts landmark that launched the careers of Duke Ellington, Ella Fitzgerald, Marvin Gaye and The Supremes, announces their grand re-opening after a $29 million renovation and a 32-year hiatus. The Howard Theatre will re-open the week of April 9 with an opening lineup that includes Wale, Wanda Sykes, The Roots, Robert Randolph, Taj Mahal, Yasiin Bey (aka Mos Def), Meshell Ndegeocello, Bad Brains, Chuck Brown, Chuck Berry, Esperanza Spalding and a weekly Sunday Brunch featuring the Harlem Gospel Choir.
