Of all of Bernard Shaw's wonderful plays, it seems a brave and slightly odd choice for the Orange Tree theatre to choose to revive Misalliance. When the play premiered in 1910, it was hated by critics and audiences alike for its verbose text and uneven plot. It has rarely been seen performed since and unfortunately this production shows that it is easy to see why.

Lead casting is today announced for a 2018 UK tour of Terence Rattigan's classic family drama, The Winslow Boy - directed by Olivier Award-nominated Rachel Kavanaugh. Tessa Peake-Jones (Only Fools and Horses, Grantchester) stars as Grace Winslow wife of Arthur Winslow, played by Aden Gillett (House of Eliott, Holby City), the father who embarks on an extraordinary campaign for justice for his son.

The Day recently published an article discussing a new production of Rags that will be performed at the Goodspeed Opera House this fall. The production was rewritten to be 'equally about the past as it is about the present, as the writers drew inspiration from the Lower East Side Tenement Museum and related what they saw there to immigration today.'

TheatreWorks Silicon Valley continues its 2016/2017 season with a musical saga of immigrant America, Rags. From the creators of Fiddler on the Roof and Wicked, this exhilarating musical follows the journey of Jewish immigrants Rebecca and her son David, who find themselves navigating the teeming, turn-of-the-century tenements of New York. A soaring, tuneful score (music by Charles Strouse, lyrics by Stephen Schwartz) illuminates this sweeping saga (book by Joseph Stein) of dreams and disillusions, love lost and inspiration found, and the heart and soul of the American character. It was declared "A winner, warm and witty. You are tempted to rise cheering," by The Mercury News. Rags will be directed by TheatreWorks Founding Artistic Director Robert Kelley, who notes "this production could not be timelier. As America debates immigration policies, what better time to present this deeper look at the newcomer's experience." This April, Principal Conductor Valery Gergievconducts the Munich Philharmonic Orchestrain two concerts at Carnegie Hall's Stern Auditorium / Perelman Stage. On Monday, April 3 at 8:00 p.m., the orchestra performs Ravel'sLa valse and Piano Concerto in G Major withPierre-Laurent Aimard, alongside Beethoven's Symphony No. 3 in E-flat Major, Op. 55, 'Eroica." To say that the musical version of Finding Neverland is a real charmer is an understatement. The book by James Graham retains all of the sweetness of the 2004 film and adds on a delightful theatricality for the stage that just will not quit. One surprising element is the musical score by Gary Barlow and Eliot Kennedy that includes some wonderfully poignant and moving ballads. With sweeping direction by Diane Paulus and a dynamite cast this national touring production is bound to please just about everyone, the young and the young at heart. It plays at the Hollywood Pantages through March 12.

The Children's Theatre of Cincinnati's 93rd season will be one to remember, as TCT brings Tri-state families six fantastical productions they won't soon forget. At the Taft Theatre, a boy that won't grow up, a princess in glass slippers, a band of animal friends and a magical nanny will all prove that dreams really do come true if you make a wish and believe in yourself.

Susan R. Williamson, Director of the Palm Beach Poetry Festival, has announced the Fish Tales Poetry Contest. To enter, local writers are encouraged to submit up to 30 lines of original poetry inspired by one of 10 designated photographs that are part of the Fish Tales exhibit now running at the Delray Beach Historical Society, located at 3 NE 1st Street.

Once the dust settled, two of the four shows have been fully cast with the other two in the process of finalizing cast lists.

The full cast is announced for the final production in the Coronet's spring season, DEATHWATCH, from April 11 to May 7. This new Print Room production of Jean Genet's powerful and provocative first play, in a translation by David Rudkin, marks its first major revival in almost 30 years. Deathwatch stars Danny Lee Wynter, Joseph Quinn, Tom Varey and Emma Naomi, and is directed by Geraldine Alexander, who received critical acclaim for the direction of her own play, Amygdala, at The Print Room's former space in 2013. The Coronet is also working with playwright David Rudkin on complementary activity around the production.
