Dench to Donate Shakeseare in Love's Rose?

Whatsonstage.com is reporting that Dame Judi Dench will be donating the replica of the Rose Theatre used in the 1998 Oscar-winning film Shakespeare In Love (for which the Dame herself received a trophy), gifted to her by the film's producers.

After a 48 year absence, Roundabout Theatre Company (Todd Haimes, Artistic Director) presents the first new Broadway production of Bye Bye Birdie as the inaugural production of the new Henry Miller's Theatre (124 West 43rd Street) beginning Thursday, September 10th, 2009 with an official opening on Thursday, October 15th, 2009. This will be a limited engagement through January 10th, 2010.

Producers Frederick Zollo, Michael G. Wilson, Barbara Broccoli, Raymond L. Gaspard, Frank Gero, Cheryl Wiesenfeld, Jeffrey Sine, Michael Rose and Robert Cole announced today that Daniel Craig and Hugh Jackman will star together on Broadway in A STEADY RAIN, a critically acclaimed two-character play by Keith Huff. Directed by Tony Award nominee John Crowley, A STEADY RAIN begins previews on Thursday, September 10, 2009 and opens Tuesday, September 29, 2009 at the Gerald Schoenfeld Theatre (236 West 45th Street) for a strictly limited 12 week engagement through Sunday, December 6, 2009.

According to producer Randall L. Wreghitt, the musical is in the process of securing the remainder of its financing and casting, and plans to open in early 2010.

LA Times The Envelope reports that Woody Allen has received his 19th screenplay nomination from the Writers Guild of America Wednesday for his romantic comedy ' Vicky Cristina Barcelona.Allen, 73, has previously won the WGA award for original screenplay for 'Annie Hall,' 'Broadway Danny Rose,' 'Hannah and Her Sisters' and 'Crimes & Misdemeanors.'

A Literary Christmas Miscellany at The New York Public Library Runs Through Jan. 4

Just in time for the holiday season, The New York Public Library will display Charles Dickens personal prompt copy of his classic tale A Christmas Carol from December 5, 2008 through January 4, 2009 in the free display A Literary Christmas Miscellany which includes a selection of holiday material from the Henry W. and Albert A.
