According to Screen Daily, Robert Redford and Nick Nolte are set to take A Walk in the Woods for IM Global. Redford has been attached to the project, an adaptation of Bill Bryson's novel, but the site now reports that the actor will pull double-duty and direct as well. The script comes from LITTLE MISS SUNSHINE's Michael Arndt, who most recently signed on to pen the next installment in the STAR WARS franchise. (more...)

La Jolla Playhouse announced today that nationally-renowned scenic designer Robert Brill has been named the theatre's inaugural Artist-in-Residence. This new, multi-month residency program, supported in part by a generous donation from Playhouse Director Emeritus Des McAnuff, is designed to give artists the freedom to focus on their ongoing body of work while becoming fully integrated into all aspects of the institution, from the stage to the boardroom to the classroom. In addition to designing the sets for His GirlFriday and Sideways this season, Brill will participate in the Playhouse's artistic planning, education and outreach activities, lead master classes at UC Dan Diego and serve as a community liaison for arts advocacy in San Diego, among other Playhouse activities. Playwrights, actors and directors from across the country will travel to McCall and, working with local artists and students, develop eleven new plays that will be presented to the public free of charge. Steve LaRocque follows his critically-acclaimed appearance in 'A Walk in the Woods' at Quotidian Theatre Company with three free performances of his one-man WWII play, Byline: Ernie Pyle on April 25. LaRocque plays war correspondent Ernie Pyle, recounting the major events of World War II in Pyle's own words. The actor becomes the reporter, appalled at the tragic waste of war and the brutal conditions it imposes on the men who fight it, and personally committed to going back to it, again and again, until the end.
