PUMP BOYS AND DINETTES was my first Broadway musical, so it not only holds a special place in my heart, but I still remember most of the lyrics. Philadelphia, get ready to spice up your life! East Passyunk Avenue Business Improvement District, South Fellini and Make Music Philadelphia will host a Spice Girls Pop-Up Choir this Thursday, June 21, 2018 during Make Music Day. The general public is invited to channel their best Scary Spice, Sporty Spice, Baby Spice, Ginger Spice and Posh Spice during the free event that will take place at the historic Singing Fountain (at the intersection of 11th Street and East Passyunk).  From 7:00pm to 8:00pm, participants will engage in a brief rehearsal led by local singer-songwriter and certified music therapist Carolyn Thorn, followed by a public performance and recording of the night. No experience is necessary - just a love of singing. Participation is free and open to all ages.

Goodman Theatre celebrates the lives of "two strong, vibrant women dispensing joy and wisdom" (Chicago Tribune) in a major revival of Emily Mann's Having Our Say: The Delany Sisters' First 100 Years. Directed by the Goodman's longtime Resident Director Chuck Smith, the production features Ella Joyce and Marie Thomas as the Delany centenarians, Bessie (1891 - 1995) and Sadie (1889 -1999), respectively. The sisters were discovered in 1991 when Amy Hill Hearth interviewed them for The New York Times. Following the article, the trio co-authored the book, Having Our Say: The Delany Sisters' First 100 Years-a New York Times bestseller and heartfelt reflection of their family history and triumphs over prejudices in times of social unrest. Mann adapted it for the stage, first at McCarter Theatre Center in Princeton, New Jersey and then to Broadway, where it ran for 317 performances. Having Our Say: The Delany Sisters' First 100 Years appears May 5 - June 10, 2018 in the Albert Theatre (opening night is Monday, May 14). Amazon today announced that over 55 official selection feature films from the Outfest Film Festival are now available on Prime Video. Outfest is the leading organization that promotes LGBTQ equality by creating, sharing and protecting LGBTQ stories on the screen. The collection of these stories were published to Prime Video directly by filmmakers or rights holders through the Prime Video Direct (formerly Amazon Video Direct) self-publishing program which enables rights holders to make their content available to Prime members and earn royalties based on customer engagement.

The Country Music Association held a press conference this morning to announce the 2018 inductees into the Country Music Hall of Fame-Johnny Gimble, Ricky Skaggs and Dottie West.

The Wallis Annenberg Center for the Performing Arts announces the cast for its upcoming production of Blues in the Night.  Conceived and directed by Sheldon Epps, the production will feature Yvette Cason (Shout Sister Shout, Broadway and film versions of Dreamgirls), Bryce Charles (The Book of Mormon, ABC's "Black-ish"), Paulette Ivory (Disney's Aida and the West End premieres of The Lion King and Blues in the Night) and Chester Gregory (Broadway's Motown: The Musical, Hairspray and  Sister Act).  Blues in the Night will begin performances April 27 through May 20 in the Lovelace Studio Theater.

Rehearsals begin today for The 5th Avenue Theatre's new production of Mamma Mia!, the celebrated musical that features the music of global pop sensation ABBA. The 5th Avenue Theatre is the first producing theater company in the Pacific Northwest to be granted the rights to create its own refreshed version of the show, which toured the world for nearly 20 years.

One of the most significant pieces of Elvis Presley's musical history has returned to Graceland, 60 years after it was first purchased by Elvis for the home in 1957 a white, baby grand piano with gold accents and a custom-made, gold, metal bench designed by Elvis with a white, leather cushion. For the first time since Graceland opened to the public in 1982, visitors to Graceland are now able to see this original piano, which was returned to the Music Room at Graceland this past weekend during Graceland's holiday concert events. Additional 1960s-era artifacts which are now on display in the Music Room include the original drapes and original gold couch, which was part of the room's d cor in 1964.
