Rivendell Theatre Ensemble (RTE), Chicago's only Equity theatre dedicated to producing new work with women at the core will add four performances to the run The Cake by Bekah Brunstetter, directed by Lauren Shouse, and featuring RTE Founders Tara Mallen and Keith Kupferer, RTE Member Krystel McNeil, with Tuckie White.  Eight performances have been added to the run, which must close June 2, 2018 at Rivendell Theatre Ensemble, 5779 N. Signature Theatre is excited to announce the cast and creative team for the world premiere of 4,380 Nights by DC playwright Annalisa Dias. The production will be directed by Kathleen Akerley (Artistic Director of Longacre Lea) and will feature Ahmad Kamal (Woolly Mammoth's KISS) as Malik Essaid/El Hadj El Kaim, Michael John Casey (Shakespeare Theatre's Othello, Folger Theatre's Henry V) as Bud Abramson/Man, Rex Daugherty (Signature'sShakespeare's R&J) as Luke/Colonel Pelissier, and Lynette Rathnam (Ford Theatre's Death of a Salesman) as Woman (complete cast and creative team bios are below). 4,380 Nights will run from January 16 through February 18 in Signature Theatre's ARK Theatre. 4,380 Nights is Signature's submission to the 2018 Women's Voices Theater Festival.

“A prolific choreographer of skillfully constructed dances that respectfully mesh with music and striking visual design” (The New Yorker), Jessica Lang and her company return to Jacob's Pillow for the ensemble's first Ted Shawn Theatre engagement, July 5-9. In addition to a Pillow-commissioned world premiere work, the program includes Lang's Thousand Yard Stare, a dance embodying the incredible pride and honor as well as the searing loss experienced by military veterans. The program will also include the East Coast and company premiere of Lang's Lyric Pieces as well as Solo Bach, Sweet Silent Thought, and The Calling. This season, the Pillow has formed a partnership with the Tanglewood Music Center, whereby Tanglewood Fellows and alumni will be providing the music accompaniment for this engagement.

Theo Ubique Cabaret Theatre's founding artistic director Fred Anzevino today announced the company's lineup for the 2017-18 season, its last in its Rogers Park venue, the No Exit Café. The company will move into a new home in Evanston for the 2018-19 season. Their '17-'18 season will open in September with William Finn and James Lapine's 1998 off-Broadway hit, A New Brain. The musical, which was inspired by a real-life medical crisis Finn experienced, concerns a songwriter who while in a coma and awaiting life-threatening brain surgery, hallucinates about the songs he has yet to write and the people in his life. Its score includes some of Finn's most romantic, humorous and joyous songs, such as “I'd Rather Be Sailing,” “The Music Still Plays On” and “I Feel So Much Spring.” A New Brain will be directed by Anzevino, with music direction by Jeremy Ramey and choreography by Cameron Turner. It will run from September 15  through October 29.

George Street Playhouse has announced full casting for Curvy Widow, starring Broadway's Nancy Opel (GSP's The Toxic Avenger, Broadway's Honeymoon in Vegas). The sassy musical comedy will not only close out GSP's 2016-17 season, but also mark the final show performed in the Playhouse's current building. Curvy Widow runs May 2-21, 2017, with opening night scheduled for May 5th, 2017.
