GEORGE M! tells the life story of George M. Cohan, a giant of the American Musical Theater who gave us such songs asYankee Doodle Dandy, Over There, You're A Grand Old Flag, and Give My Regards to Broadway. The show follows him over a 60-year period period from the late 1880s until 1937. The story begins with his childhood in Rhode Island on the vaudeville circuit with his parents and sister as "The Four Cohans," continuing to New York, where he starts his 25-year absolute reign of the Broadway stage.

A raging storm of laughs will hit the Shakespeare/Summerfest Orange County stage as George M. Cohan's comedy, The Tavern performs today, August 9-30. As part of SOC's commitment to a diverse season, The Tavern will provide audiences with a turn of the century comedy for all ages. Among new faces to SOC -- including Ovation Award nominated Bo Foxworth -- many SOC regulars will return for this production, as well as Producing Artistic Director John Walcutt.

Get swept away by an all-star cast in Lyric Theatre of Oklahoma's lush production of A LITTLE NIGHT MUSIC, which runs August 5 through 9 at the Civic Center Music Hall. The show, which features the popular song 'Send in the Clowns', stars Broadway's own Dee Hoty and George Dvorsky. Called 'heady, civilized, sophisticated and enchanting' by the New York Times, Lyric's production is directed by artistic director Michael Baron and includes an original scenic design, new costumes, and a full orchestra. Musical Fireworks at Music Mountain Celebrate the 4th with Beethoven & Broadway

Celebrate the 4th at Music Mountain, America's Oldest Continuing Chamber Music Festival, as they continue their 85th Anniversary Celebration with a weekend of music featuring Beethoven and Broadway! The weekend begins on Saturday, July 5(6:30PM) with The Sharon Playhouse performing the greats of George M. Cohen, plus a pre-concert dinner followed on Sunday, July 6 (3PM) by Alexander Fiterstein, Clarinet; Nicholas Canellakis, Cello; Michael Brown, Piano; and Miranda Cuckson, Violin performing Messiaen and Beethoven - with a pre-concert discussion of Messiaen. Music Mountain prides itself on bringing new music to Falls Village, and this year is no exception. Music Mountain debuts several classical pieces this summer, along with new 'Twilight Series' concerts, like this weekend's first tribute to Broadway. Concerts are scheduled thru September 14.

JACK LEMMON RETURNS Extends Through 7/20 at Royal George Theatre

Due to popular demand, the World Premiere of Chris Lemmon in JACK LEMMON RETURNS, will be extended from June 25 through July 20 at The Royal George Theatre, 1641 North Halsted Street. After a brief hiatus starting June 8, the production that has been called 'A very classy solo tribute!' (Chicago Tribune); 'An honest, loving 'living memoir'!' (Chicago Sun-Times); and "An affectionate and all-together absorbing tribute!" (TimeOut Chicago) will return to Chicago for this strictly limited engagement.

With performances through June 21 in Los Angeles, the two-act story ballet LA SYLPHIDE will be paired with George Balanchine's romantic SERENADE at four of Los Angeles Ballet's home venues: UCLA's Royce Hall, The Alex Theatre in Glendale, Redondo Beach Performing Arts Center, and Valley Performing Arts Center in Northridge. Los Angeles Ballet will be touring out of California for the first time, presenting the same production in Seattle, Washington on June 27, 2014, at McCaw Hall at Seattle Center.

The production opens on Monday, May 12 at 7 p.m. at The Royal George Theatre, 1641 North Halsted Street. The production is written and directed by Hershey Felder and based on the true story of the legendary Jack Lemmon (Mister Roberts, Some Like it Hot, Days of Wine and Roses, The Odd Couple) and his relationship with his son, actor and musician Chris Lemmon (Duet, That's Life, Lena's Holiday, etc.). Starz Digital Media Buys Rights to George Takei Documentary TO BE TAKEI, Headed for SXSW

Heading into the annual SXSW festival, Starz Digital Media has snagged the rights to the film, To Be Takei. The documentary about pop-culture icon George Takei premiered at this year's Sundance Film Festival and was directed by Jennifer M. Kroot (It Came from Kuchar). The company has acquired all rights for U.S. and Canada. The company will distribute with a theatrical release planned for 2014. The announcement was made today by Kevin Kasha, Head of Acquisitions for Starz.

The series presents pairs of outstanding opera singers, many of whom were winners of a George London prize early in their careers or are recent George London Award recipients. Producers Jeffrey Richards, Jerry Frankel and Louise Gund just announced that Rob Campbell, who was most recently seen in The Patron Saint of Sea Monsters at Playwrights Horizons, will play the role of Governor George Wallace in the Oregon Shakespeare Festival and American Repertory Theater production of ALL THE WAY by Pulitzer Prize-winning playwright Robert Schenkkan. Campbell joins previously announced three-time Emmy Award-winning actor Bryan Cranston ('Breaking Bad') as Lyndon B. Johnson, Michael McKean as J. Edgar Hoover and Brandon J. Dirden as Martin Luther King, Jr. Additional casting will be announced soon.
