Definitely one of this current millennium's funniest stage shows, the world-famous Hollywood Bowl certainly chose wisely in its decision to stage the hit musical comedy Monty Python's SPAMALOT as this year's all-star annual summer stage musical spectacular, which was welcomed with plenty of sustained, hearty laughter and a well-deserved standing ovation during its opening night performance on Friday evening, July 31st. The nearly 18,000-seat venue's truncated, yet still enormously entertaining re-staging of the 2005 Tony Award winner for Best Musical continues with two additional weekend performances, August 1-2.

Artistic Director Daniel Evans today announces the full company for Jonathan Humphreysproduction of William Shakespeare's Romeo & Juliet. Humphreys directs Scott Arthur (Benvolio), Charlie Bate (Pastor), Morfydd Clark (Juliet), Joanna Croll (Lady Montague/Sister), Freddie Fox (Romeo), Michael Hodgson (Capulet), Jonny Holden (Tybalt), Hugh John (The Prince), Robin Kingsland (Montague), Andrew Leung (Paris/Abram), Rachel Lumberg (The Nurse), Simon Manyonder (Mercutio),Shaun Mason (Sampson/Capitan), Joshua Miles (Peter/Gregory/Balthasar) and Natalie Thomas (Lady Capulet). The production opens on 23 September, with previews from 17 September, and runs until 17 October.

The Off-Broadway League has announced details for the 2015 Lucille Lortel Awards, which will celebrate 30 years of recognizing Outstanding Achievement Off-Broadway. The 30th Annual Lucille Lortel Awards will be handed out on Sunday, May 10, 2015 at the NYU Skirball Center, beginning at 7:00 PM EST. David Yazbek has shown himself to be a Broadway composer-lyricist to be reckoned with, after a splashy debut with 2000's "The Full Monty," and a meaningful follow-up with 2005's "Dirty Rotten Scoundrels." Both film adaptations, they won Drama Desk Awards for him, as well as Tony nominations. 2010's "Women on the Verge of a Nervous Breakdown", also a film adaptation, was Tony-nominated for its score as well, though it suffered a truncated run of only 69 performances. Theatre at the Center in the Chicago suburb of Munster, Indiana, is the location for the show's world regional premiere.
