One for the Road - 1982 - St. Louis, MO (Regional) History , Info & More

One for the Road was first developed and performed last spring at the Firehouse Theatre Project under the Working Title, Epiphany 50. Patton states that the origin of the piece centered on speaking at his own wake, but much like his life, One for the Road is a work in progress. Today, Patton's one-act play has grown into a dynamic and unique performance of a despairing actor contemplating his own fate. Dealing at last with life-long conflicts between love and lust, bondage and freedom, and faith and doubt, the protagonist explores political tensions of the Deep South through complex interactions with his own ghost.

Unlike some autobiographical works, One for the Road is sincere and engaging, without being self-absorbed. In contemplating his death, he glides right over the night he sipped bourbon with the late, great Tennessee Williams, but spares no detail in revisiting the skeletons in his closet. Patton's humility throughout is infectious, and he enthralls audiences with his charismatic confessions and incredibly diverse history.

BWW Recap: Possible Series Finale for RED BAND SOCIETY is Full of Love!
by Scott Fullerton - Dec 4, 2014

In the Fall, (series?), finale of the RED BAND SOCIETY, love is in the air, and it's getting stomped on as much as it is being welcomed. While repercussions are boiling over from the disastrous one night stand of Nurse Brittney and Dr. McAndrews, and Leo and Emma and Hunter and Kara are having some withdrawal issues, there are a couple sparks flying between Nurse Jackson and Dr. “Sing-a-long,” Naday. While this was a great episode, it is definitely bittersweet for the fans, still unhappy with the news that FOX is not ordering anymore new episodes for this season. There is no official cancellation notice as of yet, but there are three remaining episodes that do not have a solid schedule date, and could possibly never air. Unfortunately because this was planned as a mid-season cliff-hanger, the episode leaves a lot unresolved issues and unanswered questions.

BWW Reviews: Young Singers Peddie, Dirksen, Block and Lowe Are No Longer Waiting to Join the Shining New Lights of Cabaret
by Billie Roe - Nov 22, 2014

Every year, despite a litany of warnings they come to the Big Apple with big dreams. Warnings like: “You have to pay your dues.” “It's a tough business, kid.” “How are you going to survive?” There's no such thing as an overnight success, yet still they come to be at “the top of the heap,” as Kander and Ebb so eloquently put it. The four young performers featured here haven't yet vaulted to the top of the cabaret heap, but they've certainly made their marks with excellent shows during 2014, while exhibiting the potential to get there. The spotlight is already shining on Chrysten Peddie, Angela Dirksen, Rembert Block, and Kristoffer Lowe.
