If you follow Ellyn Marie Marsh (@ellynmarsh) on Twitter, there are a few things that you probably know about her. 1) She is an original and current memeber of the cast of Tony-winning musical KINKY BOOTS. 2) She is darn funny, AND she can belt like nobody's business (your evidence). 3) She loves her some BIG BROTHER! Therefore, we thought it only appropriate that we ask Ellyn to join the BWW TV World family and recap last night's season finale of BIG BROTHER 16! Between watching during intermission of KINKY BOOTS (while wearing her mullet wig) and battling an uncoopoerative DVR, she gave us all of the insight and snark one would expect.

Today we are talking to the gifted composer and lyricist behind the earth-shattering score for Broadway's biggest recent hit, HEDWIG & THE ANGRY INCH, the versatile and passionate Stephen Trask. Shedding considerable light on the development of the idiosyncratic rock musical, Trask discusses his influences and the organic way in which the outre show developed from humble beginnings at downtown bar Squeezebox in the mid-1990s, to Off-Broadway hit at the turn of the new century all the way to the rapturously received feature film adaptation, and, now, the 2014 Broadway production. Trask also details his affection for Tony Award-winning lead actor Neil Patrick Harris and looks ahead to the new leading man donning the titular wig, Andrew Rannells. Additionally, Trask also shares news on the forthcoming sequel to HEDWIG currently being developed with John Cameron Mitchell and teases some of what we can expect from the hotly anticipated theatrical experience. Furthermore, Trask reflects on his own upbringing and musical influences and how that informed the composition of the score for HEDWIG, as well as his own favorite performers. Plus, Trask reflects on his fruitful career as a movie scorer in Hollywood and comments on his upcoming musical endeavors, including two original stage musicals - JUST THE BLACK KEYS, a real-life inspired original musical potentially involving Peter Askin and Michael Mayer, as well 15 MINUTES, a Studio 54-centric period piece written with Rick Elice - as well as much, much more.

My visit to the Massachusetts Historical Society was so fascinating that I had to devote two vlog posts to it! Librarian Peter Drummey and his colleague Sara Georgini know as much about the show 1776 as they do about the true history and the real John Adams. And they have great affection for the musical, pointing out some of the departures from the true story the writers took in creating a dramatically pleasing piece of theatre.

Twerking has taken control of the McKinley hallways, and New Directions is getting themselves set up to twerk the competition away with some twerking tutorials for those who lack the twerking ability. Rachel makes a change and cuts her hair, which does not sit well with her director, but despite the hair cut, Rachel kills it in the rehearsal room with her co-star singing 'You Are Woman, I Am Man'. There is a high holy day each week, where actors pause to relax and reflect on everything that has happened the 6 days prior…and thy name is Monday. So, with excitement for the blessed days arrival, the cast of The Most Happy Fella had their first run through for the show designers, producers and staff this past Sunday. Up until this point we have been blocking the individual scenes and numbers, not really aware of what the full journey would feel like. I knew the scenes and numbers I was in, that I had set transition assignments and that my chest seized up every time I finished dancing "Big D," but I had no idea what/how it all came together. Like Amanda Bynes to a ratty wig, we actors need an audience to really feel it all come together and add in that new element that we hadn't felt thus far.
The recently released Andy Cato album on Apollo Records was a time capsule of 20 years of rave culture. It was a personal record of someone's trip through the mortal maze of dance music.
