Like all dashing, debonair, and mustachioed bachelors, Richard Hannay has nothing to do. Listless, he decides to go to the theatre and, finally, the promise that every theatre teacher you ever had made comes true - it transforms his life. At the theatre, he meets a beautiful woman who accompanies him back to his apartment, saunters into his bedroom, then is promptly murdered in the night while he sleeps alone on his ottoman. Before the mysterious beauty dies, she fills his head with conspiracy theories that send Hannay on a wild-goose chase. He must answer the question: What (or who) is (or are) the 39 steps?

This season's revival of George S. Celebrating the 6th Anniversary of Whitmore Eclectic, Aliah Whitmore directs Sylva Kelegian and Lisa Richards in a revival of Marsha Norman's eloquent, darkly humorous, Pulitzer Prize-winning drama 'night, Mother. The opening is set for Nov. 1 at The Lost Studio on La Brea Ave.

In the summer of 1918, as the Great War rages in Europe, two individuals wage their own battle against injustice in America, risking their lives for the right to marry. Winding up the 2014 Antaeus season of modern classics, Gregg T. Daniel directs a fully partner-cast revival of Wedding Band: A Love/Hate Story in Black and White by Alice Childress. Wedding Band runs Oct. 18 through Dec. 7 at the Antaeus Theater in NoHo, with low-priced previews beginning Oct. 9.

Paper Mill Playhouse lost its former Executive Producer Angelo Del Rossi on Saturday, August 30, 2014. Angelo Del Rossi helmed Paper Mill Playhouse in Millburn, New Jersey, for forty years. A funeral service was held on Monday, September 1, 2014 in Montclair, NJ. Paper Mill Playhouse is planning a memorial tribute at the Millburn theater where the entire theater community can celebrate the life of Angelo Del Rossi. Date, time and more information is forthcoming. In lieu of flowers, the family is requesting memorial contributions to the Angelo Del Rossi Scholarship Fund, Paper Mill Playhouse, 22 Brookside Drive, Millburn, NJ, 07041.

Fox Valley Repertory continues their 2014 theater series with Neil Simon's heart-warming family comedy, Brighton Beach Memoirs. This coming-of-age memoir, directed by Ronan Marra, will take place at the Pheasant Run Resort Mainstage tonight, August 28 - October 19, 2014.

With Nick Munns music, David Land dreamed of replicating the success of JOSEPH AND THE AMAZING TECHNICOLOR DREAMCOAT. SWAN ESTHER, not the hit that JOSEPH was, has enjoyed varying success. The Bill T. Jones/Arnie Zane Dance Company, New York Live Arts' Resident Dance Company, announced today the touring programs and productions for the 2014-2015 Season. Each year the Hangar offers free admission to Hangar patrons and all community members to its Wedge Series of cutting edge performances. These shows take place under the Hangar Tent, which is transformed into a unique performance venue for each Wedge show. Performances begin 15 minutes after the scheduled Mainstage performances tonight, June 19, and June 20, as well as July 3, 4, 17, 18, 24, and 25. Wedge performances are open to all ages; however they may contain mature language and situations that may not be suitable for all children.

Delaware Theatre Company will close its 35th season with the 35th anniversary of the hit musical AIN'T MISBEHAVIN', conceived by Richard Maltby, Jr. and Murray Horwitz. When adapting movies into Broadway musicals, it certainly helps to start with a movie that revolves around singing and dancing. Or, at least, a movie that includes some kind of singing or dancing as a major part of the story or plot. That way, adding more singing and dancing should at least have a solid, logical starting point. It would seem, then, that the movie Flashdance is a perfect choice. It's right there in the title. The whole movie revolves around…wait for it…dance! Unfortunately, the Broadway touring production that is visiting PPAC takes a promising start and turns it into a long, bloated and mostly boring slog through two hours at the theater.
