BWW Reviews: Wilkommen to CABARET!
by Daniel Collins - Sep 13, 2010

'Cabaret' is a celebration of celebration. It is also a play about deep denial, in this case, denial that the world was about to irrevocably change, particularly for the people of Germany in 1929-1930 when the work is set.

by Robert Diamond - Jul 15, 2010

This week, we are taking a listen to the premiere solo album from Tony Award-winning stage star Jane Krakowski who can be seen every week on NBC's 30 ROCK as well as having appeared in countless musicals, television shows and movies over the years. A live recording of her cabaret show, THE LAZIEST GAL IN TOWN is everything we love about Ms. Krakowski and more: the sex kitten with the whip, the saucy siren, the bombshell blonde belter and the bawdiest broad this side of Mae West. All this and more is ready and waiting to be examined, ravished and explored for our sheer enjoyment courtesy of Jane & Co.…

SOUND OFF: Sondheim Palooza Part 1
by Robert Diamond - Apr 19, 2010

Today we continue our critical appraisal of the entire English-language recorded canon of Stephen Sondheim - at the very least, all the major productions which were recorded - beginning where we have left off with the round-ups of GYPSY and WEST SIDE STORY, as well as the 2009 Revival Recording of A LITTLE NIGHT MUSIC, from the last few weeks. The last show for which Sondheim wrote lyrics-only, before he was quite able to get his own musical scores produced, was his collaboration with Richard Rodgers, DO I HEAR A WALTZ? Next, we continue with the first show for which he wrote music and lyrics, SATURDAY NIGHT, as well as the first show he wrote music and lyrics for that actually made it to Broadway, A FUNNY THING HAPPENED ON THE WAY TO THE FORUM.
