The Public Theater announced complete casting today for the world premiere of BARBECUE, written by Obie Award winner Robert O'Hara. Directed by Kent Gash, BARBECUE begins previews on Tuesday, September 22 and runs through Sunday, November 1, with an official press opening on Thursday, October 8.

Addison, Leith Burke, Tina Lifford, Tony Maggio, Simone Missick and Lisa Pescia, the world premiere of Citizen opens at the Fountain Theatre tonight, August 1.

Gallery Players' latest play takes big ideas and historical events -- who invented television and how -- and turns them into a very intimate look at two men and their race to make the impossible possible. From the mind of Aaron Sorkin, creator of The West Wing, The Farnsworth Invention is equal parts character study, history lesson (albeit not 100% historically accurate), and moving drama. Premiering tonight, May 2 at 8 pm in the Roth/Resler Theater of the JCC, the play tells the story of the invention of television from the perspective of its inventor, Philo T. Farnsworth, and his rival, RCA president and early radio pioneer, David Sarnoff.

Tangent Theatre Company, based in the intimate Carpenter Shop Theater in Tivoli's village center, announces a fifth week of performances for their Spring 2015 production: the contemporary moral drama Lobby Hero by Kenneth Lonergan. The play will now run through Sunday, May 3. Set in a Manhattan apartment building lobby, the story examines the shades of grey between right and wrong, and centers on the main character, Jeff, the building's security guard, and three other diverse characters, including Jeff's supervisor William and two New York City police officers (Bill and Dawn). Remaining performances of Lobby Hero are Thursdays - Saturdays 8pm; Sundays 3pm.
