Arizona Theatre Company (ATC; David Ivers, Artistic Director; Billy Russo, Managing Director) is pleased to welcome back four-time Academy Award-nominee Marsha Mason, who will direct Neil Simon's autobiographical romantic comedy Chapter Two to open ATC's 51st season, Oct. 5-22 at the Herberger Theater Center, 222 E. Monroe in Phoenix.

The Kitchen is pleased to present the world premiere of Yarn/Wire: Enno Poppe, October 6. Admired for the energy and precision they bring to performances of today's most adventurous music, this year Yarn/Wire are championing new work by Berlin-based composer Enno Poppe. Combining the complex timbres of percussion instruments hand-crank sirens, wood drums, cymbals, complex suspended metal plates, mallet percussion and found objects , all filtered through microtonal organs or paired with dense, perpetually moving piano complexity, and applied with the quartet's skills, this concert give rise to the sonic universe of Enno Poppe.

San Francisco Opera Launches 95th Season with Opening Weekend Celebrations

San Francisco Opera inaugurated its 95th season with a weekend of celebrations and performances beginning on Friday, September 8 with two galas Opera Ball 2017 at The Imperial Palace and the BRAVO! CLUB Opening Night Gala and a performance of Giacomo Puccini's Turandot in artist David Hockney's colorful production. At the opera's conclusion, San Francisco Opera Music Director Nicola Luisotti, who conducted the performance, was awarded the San Francisco Opera Medal.

Arizona Opera Brings 1960's Cult Classic Film to the Stage

Join Hercules and Arizona Opera on an epic quest, fighting legions of supernatural monsters in the underworld with Hercules vs Vampires. Live, on-stage singers, orchestra and conductor synchronize a newly-composed score from Patrick Morganelli with the 1961 film Hercules in the Haunted World, a fine sword-and-sandal tribute to mythology. Hercules vs Vampires comes to Tucson's Fox Theatre (17 W. Congress St.) on Sunday, October 15 at 2 p.m. and Phoenix's Symphony Hall (75 N. 2nd St.) on Saturday, October 21 at 7:30 p.m. and Sunday, October 22 at 2 p.m.

Nettle Creek Players, a 501c3 not-for-profit arts organization, on Monday, June 19 will welcome to Hagerstown a troupe of visiting professional theatre artists who will live in the community for five weeks as they prepare and present the Nettle Creek Players 2017 Summer Stock Tent Theatre Season featuring productions of THE FANTASTICKS, THUMBELINA, BROADWAY ON MAIN STREET, and the NCP Young Actors Musical Theatre Workshop.  Performances of THE FANTASTICKS will be at 7:30pm on July 7, 8, 9, 13, 14, 15, 20, 21 & 22 with BROADWAY ON MAIN STREET at 2:00pm on July 9, 16 & 23 and THUMBELINA at 11:00am and 1:00pm on July 15 & 22, 2017.  The Workshop will be offered from July 11-23, 10:00am-3:00pm.

Riccardo Muti Conducts the Chicago Symphony in Three Weeks of Subscription Concerts

Music Director Riccardo Muti returns in April to lead the Chicago Symphony Orchestra (CSO) in three weeks of subscription concerts.  Muti and the CSO conclude the CSO's season-long presentation of Beethoven's piano concertos in a performance of the Piano Concerto No. 5 (Emperor) with Radu Lupu as soloist followed by a rare performance of A Symphony to Dante's Divine Comedy by Liszt (April 27-29 ). Muti's residency with the CSO culminates with performances of the complete cycle of symphonies by Johannes Brahms (May 4-9 and May 11-13). During his residency, Muti also leads the Civic Orchestra of Chicago in a free, open rehearsal on April 30.
