The Santa Barbara Symphony has announced its 2023-24 season, continuing a musical legacy focused on the transformative power of music. Music & Artistic Director Nir Kabaretti, now in his 18th season with the Santa Barbara Symphony, has curated an expansive eight-month-long musical journey that spotlights local, national, and international talent, as well as community, collaboration, and classical traditions.
The Santa Barbara Symphony announces its spring Youth Ensembles performances on May 6 & 7, featuring the talented young musicians of our community, and spotlighting the impact of Music Education. All Youth Ensembles performances are free and open to the public; seating is available on a first-come basis.
The Santa Barbara Symphony has announced its fall youth ensemble performances on October 29 and 30. Under the artistic vision of Music & Artistic Director Maestro Nir Kabaretti and administered by Vice President of Community Education and Enrichment, Dr. Nick Fuentes, the youth ensembles boast the largest enrollment in years, a strong parent volunteer group and new, accessible rehearsal and performance spaces.
The Music Academy of the West looks boldly to the future in this milestone year. Programming has expanded year-round for community, fellows, and alumni. Classically trained musicians are provided opportunities to unleash their creativity and connect with audiences onstage and offstage.
Music Education plays a key role in the Santa Barbara Symphony's mission to inspire a passion for symphonic music in the next generation, and so despite the pandemic, the organization committed to continuing all music education programs, which in the case of the popular Music Van program and Concerts for Young People, meant producing virtual programs this year.
Community Arts Music Association (CAMA) of Santa Barbara will celebrate its longstanding relationship with the Los Angeles Philharmonic in a Gala 100th Anniversary Concert featuring the acclaimed orchestra at the Granada Theatre on Friday, March 6 a?" 100 years to the day from the LA Phil's first performance in Santa Barbara on March 6, 1920. Conducted by Music and Artistic Director Gustavo Dudamel, the performance will include Ives' Symphony No. 2 and Dvorak's Symphony No. 9 in E Minor, a?oeFrom the New World.a?? The concert will begin at 7 pm.
