What did our critic think of COME FROM AWAY at Golden Gate Theatre?
What did our critic think of COME FROM AWAY at Golden Gate Theatre? War, mass shootings, transphobia, book banning, persistent antisemitism. We're bombarded by daily horrors, desensitizing us to brutality and injustices. Thankfully, we have a brief but joyous respite in the touring production of Irene Sankoff and David Hein's Come From Away, a bright shining declaration of generosity, compassion, self-sacrifice, and hope. Born from the tragedy of 9/11, the story of the town of Gandar Newfoundland and how it treated 7,000 stranded world travelers is nothing short of inspiring, reigniting out faith in humanity.
What did our critic think of THE PROM at Golden Gate Theatre?
The National Tour of the 2019 Drama Desk Award winner for Outstanding Musical THE PROM began performances on November 2 at Playhouse Square in Cleveland. The tour stars Kaden Kearney (they/them) as 'Emma, High School Student, Banned from The Prom,' Kalyn West as 'Alyssa Greene, Head of Student Council with a Secret,' and more.
Come From Away is far and away one of the best ensemble pieces to come to the Broadway stage in recent memory, and now theatre-goers in the San Francisco Bay area can see it at the Golden Gate Theatre, now through February 3, 2019.
Golden Gate Theatre is at 1 Taylor Street, San Francisco, CA.
Opening in San Fransisco in 1922 as a vaudeville house, The Golden Gate Theatre is now owned by theatrical producing company SHN. Boasting a seating capacity of 2,297, The Golden Gate Theatre is a popular destination for touring plays, operas, and Broadway productions.
