As the Utah Symphony approaches celebrations of its 75th season, it hopes to create excitement surrounding its 2014-15 season announcement with the launch of a digital scavenger hunt today, January 25, 2014. The grand prize for a lucky puzzle solver is a pair of tickets to the entire 2014-15 season of Utah Symphony performances.

For eight days (excluding Sundays), one clue a day will be released via the www.utahsymphony.org blog that will lead participants to virtual clues revealing highlights of the Masterworks performances in the 2014-15 season lineup. Clues - in the form of audio clips, word scrambles, visual collages - will require players to super sleuth their way to uncovering the answer: a specific work of music, a guest artist name, or a program theme. Included in the hunt will be the clue to an upcoming symphony cycle being done in honor of Maurice Abravanel, the Utah Symphony's Music Director from 1947 to 1979.

Participants will then submit their answers online at www.utahsymphony.org/hunt prior to Tuesday, February 4, 2014, the day the entire season is announced to season subscribers. For every correct answer (and bonus elements such as guest artists), players will receive Utah Symphony Bucks valued at $10 for future performances. Participants who figure out all eight answers correctly will receive a voucher good for a ticket to an upcoming performance and be entered into a drawing for the grand prize: a pair of tickets to each performance in the Utah Symphony's 2014-15 season, a stay in a Salt Lake City hotel and dinner for two at an area restaurant.

"We wanted to encourage a fun interaction with our audiences and create a compelling reason for them to solve clues leading to some of the better known works in our 2014-15 Masterworks series," explained Vice President of Marketing and Public Relations Jon Miles. "We believe that a grand prize of tickets to the 2014-15 season of Utah Symphony performances certainly raises the bar and is a great enough incentive to commit to the entire hunt. Perhaps families or friends can even put their heads together to create a team effort in winning the tickets."
