Hudson Valley Honor Flight: Generation Bridge

Saturday, March 14th, 5pm

The Lafayette Theater, Suffern, NY

"Hudson Valley Honor Flight: Generation Bridge" tells the story of the local Honor Flight hub that takes World War II veterans to Washington D.C. to visit the monuments in their honor. It's a day-long celebration that gives the veterans the coming-home party they never received. It also follows the veterans as they visit local schools to talk to teenagers about World War II and what it was like to fight it.

"These are two very important items to me," said Joe Allen. The producer, director and writer of the film as well as the former President of People to People. "I can't think of too many other ways we let our veterans down more than to allow them to go hungry. If you buy a ticket to the movie or support it that day in any way, a portion of that ticket price will go to help the hungry."

And best yet, The Hudson Cove Group, producers of the film, today announced it will give a portion of every ticket sold for its Saturday premier of "Hudson Valley Honor Flight: Generation Bridge" to help feed the hungry. The funds will go to People to People, Rockland's food pantry. 20% of all monies raised from ticket sales or donations between now and the film's premier on Saturday will go to the organization.

The funds will be directed specifically for People to People to help feed veterans who may have fallen on their luck and are in need of food. People to People is Rockland County's largest food pantry, working to help struggling Rocklanders through difficult times with dignity.

Last year, People to People provided assistance to nearly 14,000 Rockland households. They are often people who have suffered a drastic change in their lives and can no longer afford food. Rockland's veteran population, including its senior citizen veteran population, has not been immune to hunger and has those numbers have risen over the past few years.

This will be an event that will be talked about for some time to come. WWII enthusiasts will not want to miss it. There are still some tickets available at www.generationbridge.bpt.me or at the box office. General admission tickets are $15. Special VIP tickets, which includes a reception following the film, are $75.
