Trinity Rep has announced that Associate Director of Development Jennifer Canole has been named to Providence Business News 2013 40 Under Forty award list.

Through fundraising and advocacy, Jen has helped ensure Trinity Rep's vitality for 14 years. A native of Amherst, NY, Jen moved to Rhode Island in 1999 for an internship with Trinity Rep and was recruited to join the development team in 2000. She was promoted to Associate Director of Development in 2004.

Jen's work at Trinity Rep focuses primarily on institutional funding, strategic messaging, and advocacy. During her tenure, Jen has raised more than $14 million from government, corporate, and foundation sources for the theater's programs, operations, capital projects, and endowment. Her work secured the seed money that launched Trinity Rep's Young Actors Studio (after-school and summer programs), Project Discovery Plus (in-school residencies supporting student matinee attendance), Trinity Rep Active Imagination Network (workshops and residencies serving children on the autism spectrum), and Open Access Theater (providing free tickets to constituents served by social service agencies). The projects, programs and activities she has helped fund have served more than 1.7 million people from across Southern New England.

Jen has mentored more than a dozen interns at Trinity Rep. Additionally, she has advised start-up non-profit organizations, graduate students, and early-career professionals on the basics of fundraising and grant writing. She is a member (and past board secretary) of Rhode Island Citizens for the Arts.

Jen graduated from Ithaca College with a BA in English and a theater minor. She lives in Lincoln, RI with her husband and two sons.
