The American Foundation for Equal Rights (AFER) and Broadway Impact have announced the addition of Golden Globe-winner and Academy and Emmy Award-nominee Brad Pitt to the cast of the West Coast premiere reading of the play '8.' The reading is an unprecedented account of the Federal District Court trial in Perry v. Schwarzenegger (now Perry v. Brown), the case filed by AFER to overturn Proposition 8, which stripped gay and lesbian Californians of the right to marry. Watch the video announcement below.

The play, which chronicles the historic trial in the federal legal challenge to California's Proposition 8, was written by AFER Founding Board Member and Academy Award-winning writer Dustin Lance Black and directed by Tony Award-winning actor and director Joe Mantello. '8,' a new play chronicling the historic trial in the federal legal challenge to California's Proposition 8 will have its World Premiere on Broadway in a one night-only staged reading to benefit the American Foundation for Equal Rights (AFER). The play is written by AFER Founding Board Member and Academy Award-winning writer Dustin Lance Black and directed by two-time Tony Award-winning actor and director Joe Mantello. Black, who penned the Academy Award-winning feature film Milk, based '8' on the actual words of the trial transcripts, first-hand observations of the courtroom drama and interviews with the plaintiffs and their families. The reading is now completely sold-out!

Ray Bradstone (Paul "Triple H" Levesque) is "the best wheel man in the business" - the bank robbery business, that is. Just out of prison, he is determined to go straight and be the best parent he can be to his daughter, Sally (Ariel Winter), and make amends with his ex-wife, Lynne (Annabeth Gish). ??After trying everything he can do to re-connect with his family and struggling in vain to find honest work, his old bank-robbing crew, led by Phillip Larue (Kevin Corrigan), offers him one last job. He signs on as their getaway driver - only to change his mind at the last second. What prompts this change of heart is an opportunity: Sally is going on a class field trip to the New Orleans Natural History Museum and Ray has been asked to be the chaperone. It's his last chance to be the father he always wanted to be.?? Sally and her class are in for one of the craziest field trips ever.
