An eager and enthusiastic crowd of 2,800+ filed into the Connor Palace this evening to be among the first in the country to hear the lineup of hit shows coming to Cleveland as part of Playhouse Square's 2016-2017 KeyBank Broadway Series. Tonight's event included performances from the Broadway smash hit FINDING NEVERLAND, and the 2015 Tony Award winner for Best Musical, FUN HOME, which announced it will be opening its national tour right here in Cleveland.

Today, January 30, at 8:30 p.m., Dominican Republic-born singer and guitarist Joan Soriano brings his 'clean, feathery guitar sound' (NPR) to Zankel Hall in a concert presented by Carnegie Hall in partnership with Robert Browning Associates LLC. The acclaimed musician has played a major role in popularizing bachata, the African- and Spanish-based soul music sometimes called the 'Dominican blues.' In this concert, Soriano is accompanied by a six-piece band that features guitars, bass, and Latin percussion.

It's the most wonderful time of the year at Radio City Music Hall! The Rockettes are in fine form and have kicked off the holiday season with another slick and polished production that's directed and choreographed with finesse by Julie Branam. Just watching that glorious orchestra rising up out of the pit while playing a festive overture certainly gets one into the holiday spirit.

Until recently, I'm ashamed to admit, my reading of Nigerian authors was limited to the works of Chinua Achebe (which are certainly worth reading, if you haven't already). I had been overlooking a host of more recent fiction from Nigerian voices, all of which work to highlight the complex and often misunderstood history and culture of this unusual country.
