The 2016 New York Philharmonic Concerts in the Parks, Presented by Didi and Oscar Schafer, return for the 51st season with five free outdoor concerts, conducted by Music Director Alan Gilbert, on the Great Lawn in Central Park, Manhattan, beginning today, June 15 and continuing tomorrow, June 16; Prospect Park, Brooklyn (June 17); Cunningham Park, Queens (June 20); and Van Cortlandt Park, Bronx (June 21).

Van Cliburn Competition Gold Medalist Performs in Free Concert with YASO

Van Cliburn Competition Gold Medalist Stanislav Iodenitch, a piano virtuoso hailed for playing with "laserlike clarity" (The Boston Globe), performs Tchaikovsky's iconic Piano Concerto No. 1 with the Young Artists Symphony Orchestra, led by Artistic Director Alexander Treger, in a free concert capping the orchestra's highly successful inaugural season on Sunday, May 1, 2016, 6 pm, at UCLA's Royce Hall. The all-Russian program also includes Tchaikovsky's enthralling Suite from Swan Lake and Lyadov's Kikimora, a tone poem about a malicious spirit from Russian folklore. Additionally, to celebrate the conclusion of its first season, YASO is hosting a separate ticketed post-concert soiree, featuring a buffet dinner and jazz performances by Nigel Armstrong, former concertmaster under Treger, Julian Zheng, YASO principal horn, and other YASO artists.

Carnegie Hall today announced that the concert by pianist Yefim Bronfman and violinist Guy Braunstein - which had been postponed from Wednesday, March 9 - has been rescheduled for Saturday, June 18 at 7:30 p.m. in Zankel Hall. The Chamber Music Society of Detroit will present Musicians from Marlboro as part of the Marlboro Music Festival's 50th anniversary 8-city national tour on Saturday, April 9, 2016, 8 PM at Seligman Performing Arts Center. This year's ensemble features brilliant young professional musicians together with celebrated master artists, including violinists Robin Scott and Itamar Zorman, violist Samuel Rhodes, cellist Brook Speltz and pianist Cynthia Raim. The program includes Haydn's String Quartet in C major, Op. 20, No. 2, Alban Berg's Lyric Suite, and Dvo?ak's Piano Quintet in A major.
