DTNYC, established in 1999, presents choreographic works to the public by emerging artists, as well as, provides production support for established choreographers demonstrating high artistic merit.

WICKED Holds Ticket Lottery On Day Of Performances 1/27-6/27

A day-of-performance lottery for a limited number of $25 orchestra seats will be held daily for WICKED, playing an open-ended engagement at the Orpheum Theatre. Lottery tickets are available for every performance of WICKED beginning Tuesday, January 27 through Saturday, June 27. Each day, 2? hours prior to curtain, ticket buyers can arrive at the Orpheum Theatre box office to have their names placed in the WICKED lottery barrel where thirty minutes later, names will be drawn for these seats. This lottery is available only in-person at the box office, with a limit of two tickets per person, cash only. Each person must have a valid photo I.D. in order to participate. The city that launched the international smash hit musical will get its very own production when WICKED returns home to San Francisco for a sit-down, open-ended engagement beginning January 27, 2009 at the Orpheum Theatre. This production is a significant homecoming for WICKED, which had its world premiere in San Francisco in 2003 before casting its spell on Broadway, winning 20 major awards, including the Grammy Award and three Tony Awards. San Francisco audiences feel a special connection with WICKED. The 2003 world premiere in San Francisco followed a long development process during which the entire creative team and cast immersed themselves in the musical's launch at the Curran Theatre. From these roots in the city by the bay, WICKED has gone on to become a worldwide phenomenon that has since redefined theatrical popular culture.

WICKED Closes Successful Chicago Run 1/25

WICKED will take its final bow in Chicago on January 25, 2009. WICKED has helped Broadway In Chicago stand as the fifth most popular tourist attraction in the City of Chicago and has spurred interest in theatre both locally and nationally. When surveyed, over 70 percent of the WICKED theatre patrons said that they had plans to see another show in Chicago within the year. Called 'Broadway's biggest blockbuster' by The New York Times and 'a cultural phenomenon' by Variety, WICKED continues to cast a spell on all of Chicagoland and its many visitors - over 2.9 million people have attended WICKED in Chicago with audience members representing all 50 U.S. states and all seven continents. WICKED is now the longest running Broadway musical in Chicago's theater history. The Chicago company of WICKED took the stage on June 24, 2005 at the Ford Center for the Performing Arts, Oriental Theatre.

Beginning performances on Friday, January 16, NICOLE PARKER (from 'MADtv' and Martin Short: Fame Becomes Me) will assume the role of Elphaba in the musical blockbuster WICKED. Nicole joins a cast which includes Alli Mauzey as Glinda, Jayne Houdyshell as Madame Morrible, P.J. Benjamin as The Wizard, Kevin Kern as Fiyero, Alex Brightman as Boq, Brynn O'Malley as Nessarose, and Timothy Britten Parker as Dr. Dillamond. Aaron Tveit will return to the role of Fiyero on Friday, January 23. The role of Elphaba is currently being played by Marcie Dodd.

The Los Angeles production of WICKED closed last night (Sunday, January 11th) at the Pantages Theatre, after playing 791 performances and 12 previews. It has entered the record books as one of the most successful musicals in Los Angeles theatre history. This production is now transferring to the Orpheum Theatre in San Francisco, where it begins performances on January 27.

For the week ending January 4, the Chicago company of WICKED flew into 2009 with a record breaking gross of $1,764,428. This weekly gross breaks all previous records in Chicago theater history. With only 24 performances remaining, the Chicago company of WICKED continues to break all records, changing Chicago for good. WICKED will leave its mark on Chicago as the largest and most consistently top grossing show that the city has seen in decades.
