MSO Performs Musical Tribute to Marvin Hamlisch Tonight

MILWAUKEE, WIS. 02/02/2015 – The Milwaukee Symphony Orchestra Pops presents One Singular Sensation: A Tribute to Marvin Hamlisch tonight, February 14, 2015 at 8:00 p.m. at the Marcus Center for the Performing Arts. The performance celebrates four decades of his magnificent contributions to music. Hamlisch, who wrote timeless music for both Broadway and film, won three Oscars, four Grammys, four Emmys, three Golden Globes, and a Tony in his lifetime. The concert features conductor Larry Blank with vocalists Donna McKechnie, Jodi Benson, and Doug LaBrecque.

Symphony Silicon Valley Performs FANTASIA This Weekend

There is a chill in the air, but the hottest ticket in town is the Valentine love story between Symphony Silicon Valley and Disney's Fantasia. The weekend of love, this weekend, February 14 and 15 at San Jose's Center for Performing Arts, Symphony Silicon Valley will be performing live on stage the classic music from the original 1940 Walt Disney film and Disney's Fantasia 2000update while the movie is projected in high definition on a huge screen.

NIKE's CFO to Retire

NIKE, Inc. announced that Donald W. Blair, Executive Vice President and Chief Financial Officer, will retire from NIKE in October 2015. As part of a planned transition, Blair will remain in the CFO role through July 31, 2015, and will remain with the company through October 31, 2015 in support of the transition. Effective August 1, 2015, Blair will be succeeded by Andrew Campion, currently Senior Vice President, Finance, Strategy and Investor Relations for NIKE, Inc.

As BroadwayWorld reported last night, Disney's FROZEN is aiming to hit the stage by 2017. According to a report by the Daily Mail, the movie musical's Oscar-winning songwriting team Kristen Anderson-Lopez and Robert Lopez met with the film's writer and co-director Jennifer Lee, head of Disney Theatricals Thomas Schumacher, and Broadway and West End director Alex Timbers to discuss their options. Lee is writing the book with guidance from the Lopezes, who have also written 'a couple' of new songs for the show.

Tickets go on sale on Monday for the Australian Premiere of James Kirkwood's hilarious and touching comedy Legends! The national tour of this hilarious production stars screen and stage royalty, Hayley Mills and Juliet Mills. The Australian Premiere opens in Brisbane at QPAC in May for a strictly limited season, followed by seasons in Sydney, Perth, Adelaide and Melbourne.

JumpStart Theatre will train educators to develop sustainable musical theater programs at underserved middle schools that do not currently offer theatre in the curriculum or after school.
