Youthful musicality soars as both Pacific Symphony Youth Wind Ensemble (PSYWE) and Pacific Symphony Youth Orchestra (PSYO) perform a phenomenal range of music for their spring concerts. Both ensembles return to the Renée and Henry Segerstrom Concert Hall at their prime after bonding at their annual retreats this past January. The students have prepared a difficult collection of masterworks guaranteed to transfix listeners and show off their hard work. Taking place on Sunday, March 1, the day of music begins at 1 p.m. with the talented wind musicians of PSYWE, led by Music Director Gregory X. Whitmore, performing “OLDE School, New School,” a concert that highlights the variety of wind literature across the centuries. Later at 7 p.m., the students of PSYO, led by Music Director Alejandro Gutiérrez, impress as they delve into the magic and power of superheroes through excerpts from popular film music and works by Dvorák and Rimsky-Korsakov. NIKE, Inc. announced that Donald W. Blair, Executive Vice President and Chief Financial Officer, will retire from NIKE in October 2015. As part of a planned transition, Blair will remain in the CFO role through July 31, 2015, and will remain with the company through October 31, 2015 in support of the transition. Effective August 1, 2015, Blair will be succeeded by Andrew Campion, currently Senior Vice President, Finance, Strategy and Investor Relations for NIKE, Inc.

As BroadwayWorld reported last night, Disney's FROZEN is aiming to hit the stage by 2017. According to a report by the Daily Mail, the movie musical's Oscar-winning songwriting team Kristen Anderson-Lopez and Robert Lopez met with the film's writer and co-director Jennifer Lee, head of Disney Theatricals Thomas Schumacher, and Broadway and West End director Alex Timbers to discuss their options. Lee is writing the book with guidance from the Lopezes, who have also written 'a couple' of new songs for the show.
