Silver Pictures and Studiocanal announce the start of principal photography of the international action thriller THE GUNMAN. Starring Sean Penn, the project unites the two time Academy Award winning actor with an extraordinary, unconventional ensemble cast including Javier Bardem, Idris Elba, Ray Winstone, Mark Rylance and Jasmine Trinca. Directed by acclaimed French helmer Pierre Morel, the compelling script is written by Peter Travis and is based on the novel The Prone Gunman by Jean-Patrick Manchette. Joel Silver and Andrew Rona are producing through Silver Pictures, with Sean Penn. The film is fully financed by Studiocanal who handles worldwide sales and will distribute it in its four territories. It is the second collaboration this year between Silver Pictures and Studiocanal after NON-STOP. THE GUNMAN will shoot mainly in Barcelona, Spain and London.

On December 4, 1998, Gus van Sant's shot-for-shot remake of Alfred Hitchcock's 1960 classic horror film PSYCHO was released in theaters. The film has gone down in history as one of the most 'pointless' remakes, according to the great film critic Roger Ebert.

The Producers Guild of America (PGA) is pleased to announce that Tim Bevan and Eric Fellner, co-chairmen of Working Title Films, will receive the 2013 David O. Selznick Achievement Award in Theatrical Motion Pictures. The 2012 Genie Awards were handed out last Thursday in Toronto, celebrating the best in Canadian film and television. Many stars were on hand, including Viggo Mortensen (showing some major support for the Montreal Canadiens) and Jason Priestly. Hosted by George Strombolopolous, the night was filled with fun and recognition for the great work Canadians are doing in film. BWW was thrilled to be on hand to capture photos of the event.

'On The Road' is based on the novel of the same title by Jack Kerouac and is directed by Walter Salles. It is about two friends, Dean played by Garrett Hedlundy and Sal played by Sam Riley that are a part of the Beat Generation. Kristen Stewart co-stars as he teenage bride Marylou. They travel across the country in the 1940s. The film also stars Kirsten Dunst, Viggo Mortensen, and Amy Adams.
