Freely inspired by Victor Hugo's novel, equal parts horror, comedy, and romance, THE MAN WHO LAUGHS is a 'live silent film,' performed in grayscale with live music, about a man whose face has been carved into a permanent smile and his desperate quest for the world to take him seriously. Hugo's character of Gwynplaine, "the laughing man", inspired the creation of Batman's infamous nemesis, The Joker.

A new hardcover book from authors Benedict Nightingale and Martyn Palmer documenting the journey of the international hit musical LES MISERABLES from concept to film, will be published on April 16, 2013 by Applause Theatre & Cinema Books.

Les Miserables film star Russell Crowe will make his Joe's Pub debut in a one-night-only 'Indoor GArden Party' concert tonight, December 8, featuring Alan Doyle and Les Mis co-star Samantha Barks. The pair previously joined Crowe for his 'Indoor GArden Party' at the Gramercy Theatre last month.

The Lark Play Development Center in collaboration with Mexico's National Fund for Culture and Arts (FONCA) has announced the 2012 U.S./Mexico Playwright Exchange Program. For the seventh year, the Lark will host playwrights from Mexico and pair them with U.S. playwrights, actors, and directors for a ten day cultural exploration which establishes ongoing channels of communication between artists in both countries. This year's exchange is presented in partnership with Mexican Cultural Institute.

For the first time ever, the full-length version of LES MISÉRABLES is available to license, for a limited time, for performances starting in June 2013 announced theatrical licensor Music Theatre International today.

Tickets for the triumphant return of Cameron Mackintosh's new 25th anniversary production of Les Miserables are on sale now for the two-week engagement on Jan. 2 - 13 at the Academy of Music. The all new production of Les Miserables features glorious new staging and spectacular reimagined scenery inspired by the paintings of Victor Hugo. The press opening is scheduled for Wed. Jan. 2 at 7:30 p.m.

IMAX Corporation and Universal Pictures today announced that Les Miserables, the motion-picture adaptation of the beloved global stage sensation, will be digitally re-mastered into the immersive IMAX format and released in select IMAX® digital theatres worldwide.
