Honoring the important contributions of longtime JCCA Trustees and volunteers Jay and Terri Bialsky and Stephen and Lory Gilberg, Jewish Child Care Association's Celebration of Hope: A Cocktail Reception to Benefit Children and Families will be held on Wednesday, May 22nd starting at 6:30 p.m. at Capitale, 130 Bowery in New York City. The event supportsthe work of JCCA, one of the nation's oldest child and family services agencies. Actress Vanessa Williams and Senator Charles Schumer are among the members of the Honorary Benefit Committee.

The American Repertory Theater (A.R.T.) at Harvard University has announced that it will present the world premiere of the musical Witness Uganda, created by Matt Gould and Griffin Matthews, and directed by A.R.T. Artistic Director Diane Paulus. The production will begin performances at the Loeb Drama Center, 64 Brattle Street, Cambridge in February of 2014.

On Monday, April 29th, at New York City's Pierre Hotel, the National Corporate Theatre Fund (NCTF) will honor Vanessa Williams, American Express and five resident theatres celebrating their 50th anniversary - Actors Theatre of Louisville, Guthrie Theater, Hartford Stage, Seattle Repertory Theatre and Trinity Repertory Company - at NCTF's annual Chairman's Awards Gala. Actor George Takei, star of the Broadway-bound musical Allegiance, emcees the event.

According to the New York Times, Shakespeare's classic romatic tradgedy Romeo and Juliet is coming back to Broadway this summer. Helmed by David Leveaux, the production will star Tony nominee Condola Rashad and Orlando Bloom- making his Broadway debut in the role. Joining them in the play, which is set to open on September 19 at the Richard Rodgers Theatre, will be Jayne Houdyshell as the Nurse and Joe Morton as Lord Capulet.

The Broadway revival of Horton Foote's beloved classic, The Trip to Bountiful, begins preview performances tonight, March 30 at 8pm at the Stephen Sondheim Theatre (124 W 43rd St). Opening night is Tuesday, April 23.

The Pasadena Playhouse in association with Todd Gershwin and Daniel Chilewich of One Night Productions, LLC, and in further association with the Estate of Janis Joplin and Jeff Jampol of JAM, Inc. presents ONE NIGHT WITH JANIS JOPLIN. The show arrives in Pasadena after having left audiences clamoring for tickets in Portland, Cleveland and Washington D.C. Performances have been extended through April 21, 2013. Formed in 2012 by Tony Award-nominated actress, Hallie Foote, and her siblings, Daisy Foote, Walter Foote, and Horton Foote, Jr., the HORTON FOOTE LEGACY PROJECT (HFLP) is a new not-for-profit endeavor whose mission is to support emerging and established American playwrights and to preserve and advance the legacy of Horton Foote and his body of work. In an effort to achieve this mission, the organization is launching its inaugural Horton Foote Writer's Retreat, a program that gives writers the rare opportunity to reside and write undisturbed in Horton Foote's preserved Wharton, Texas home.

Heralded playwright Horton Foote, born March 14, 1916 would be 97 years old today. His play The Trip to Bountiful starts previews on Broadway March 30, 2013 and official opens April 23, 2013 at the Stephen Sondheim Theatre (124 W 43rd St) starring Cicely Tyson, Cuba Gooding, Jr, Vanessa Williams, Condola Rashad and Tom Wopat. Foote passed away on March 4, 2009.
