Count Stovall and Lolita Foster to Star in Co-Production of PROOF, Directed by Johanna Day

Casting is now complete for Quick Silver Theater Company and Classics in Color: A Theatre Company's co-production of PROOF. Broadway veteran Count Stovall will play Robert. Lolita Foster, Orange Is the New Black, will play Catherine. Nafeesa Monroe, co-producer of PROOF, will play Claire. Alejandro Rodriguez, core company member of QST, will play Hal. Johanna Day -- OBIE winner and Tony nominated for role in Broadway's PROOF -- will make her directorial debut with this production.

The Alliance Theatre has announced its upcoming production of Blues for an Alabama Sky, celebrating the 20th anniversary of the production's world premiere at the Alliance in 1995. Written by beloved Atlanta author and playwright, Pearl Cleage (What I Learned in Paris, The Nacirema Society…) and directed by Alliance Theatre Jennings Hertz Artistic Director Susan V. Booth, Blues for an Alabama Sky is a timeless look at hopeful dreams in the hopeless days of the waning Harlem Renaissance. Opening night is Wednesday, April 22, 2015.

The company opening is scheduled for Friday, November 28. The official press opening will follow on Saturday, November 29.

Berkeley Repertory Theatre welcomes back Pulitzer Prize winner Tony Kushner for the West Coast premiere of his latest play, The Intelligent Homosexual's Guide to Capitalism and Socialism with a Key to the Scriptures, an epic tale of love, family, sex, money, and politics. Kushner reunites with one of his favorite collaborators, Michael Leibert Artistic Director Tony Taccone, to bring this sweeping drama to the Roda Theatre. With his trademark mix of soaring intellect and searing emotion, the legendary writer unfurls a poignant story about an Italian family in Brooklyn. When retired longshoreman Gus Marcantonio decides to die, his kids come home with a raucous parade of lovers and spouses to find that even the house keeps secrets. A portrait of a dysfunctional family filled with weighty dialogue, humor, and passion, Kushner's four-act play previews Friday, May 16, opens on Wednesday, May 21, and runs through Sunday, June 29, 2014.

Westport Country Playhouse will stage Moliere's timeless comedy, "Tartuffe," featuring in the title role three-time Tony Award-nominee Marc Kudisch (Broadway's "9 to 5," "The Apple Tree," "Chitty Chitty Bang Bang," "Assassins," "Thoroughly Modern Millie," "Bells Are Ringing," "The Wild Party," "The Scarlet Pimpernel (3.0)," "High Society," "Beauty and the Beast," "Joseph and the Amazing Technicolor Dreamcoat," and "A Minister's Wife."). David Kennedy, Playhouse associate artistic director, will helm the production playing July 17 through August 4. The work is translated by Richard Wilbur.

Winner of the Pulitzer Prize in Drama, August Wilson's The Piano Lesson returns to Yale Rep, where it had its world premiere in 1987. The Piano Lesson was one of six plays in August Wilson's 10-play cycle chronicling the African American experience in the 20th century to premiere at Yale Rep. Wilson's other Yale Rep world premieres included Ma Rainey's Black Bottom (1984), Fences (1985), Joe Turner's Come and Gone (1986), Two Trains Running (1990), and Radio Golf (2005).
