HIGHLIGHTS OF THE WEEK: MOTOWN meets the press, Second Stage goes bowling, MISS DAISY drives down under, and so much more!

According to the Daily Mail, Bond star Daniel Craig and Rachel Weisz are in talks to star on Broadway in Harold Pinter's BETRAYAL for a limited run this fall.

The American Shakespeare Center is the only U.S. theatre company included in the British Broadcasting Corporation's six-part series, 'Shakespeare Uncovered.' The final installment of the series, 'Shakespeare Uncovered: The Tempest with Trevor Nunn,' features the ASC prominently through rehearsal and performance footage from the company's 2011 production of The Tempest as well as interviews with ASC Co-Founder and Artistic Director Jim Warren and actors James Keegan and Miriam Donald Burrows.

James Van Der Beek, best known for his starring roles on Dawson's Creek and in Varsity Blues and who currently can be seen on ABC's Don't Trust the B-in Apartment 23, appears in the American premiere production of Joanna Murray-Smith's The Gift at the Geffen Playhouse. Joining Van Der Beek is Golden Globe and Emmy award winner Kathy Baker (Picket Fences, Edward Scissorshands, All the King's Men) as well as acclaimed stage and screen actors Chris Mulkey (First Blood, Southland, Twin Peaks) and Jaime Ray Newman (Eastwick, Catch Me If You Can). Helmed by international powerhouse director/actor Maria Aitken, The Gift is currently in previews in the Gil Cates Theater at the Geffen Playhouse, and officially opens on Wednesday, February 6, 2013. This March at Jermyn Street Theatre, Christopher Timothy stars in the first major revival of Graham Greene's 1953 drama The Living Room for sixty years. This powerful and shocking story of sex, sin and guilt was Greene's first work for the stage and prompted the critic Kenneth Tynan to describe it as 'The best first play of its generation'. At the time it launched the career of a young Dorothy Tutin and enjoyed acclaimed runs in the West End and Broadway.

Multi-talented actor Hugh Jackman headlined the Philadelphia Academy of Music 156th Anniversary Concert and Ball on Saturday, January 26th. The Les Miserables star performed 'Who Am I' from the award winning film, accompanied by the Philadelphia Orchestra, for one of the city's biggest fundraising events. In this adaptation of the Brothers Grimm fairy tale 'The Girl Without Hands,' narrated by Satan himself, a father accidentally sells his daughter to the Devil. When our heroine cleverly escapes, a lyrical love story laced with devilish humor unfolds. The production features a bluegrass score by longtime Kneehigh composer Stu Barker, performed by live musicians and the cast.

Riverside Theatre's Simply Amazing Season continues with the international smash musical hit, LES MISERABLES. Winner of eight Tony Awards including Best Musical and Best Original Score, LES MISERABLES performs on the Stark Stage from February 21 through March 17, 2013 and is presented by Wilmington Trust and through the courtesy Riverside Theatre's Patron Producers.

On Monday, January 28, 2013 the Theatre Hall of Fame will welcome its 2013 inductees: Andre Bishop (producer/director), Betty Buckley (actor), Christopher Durang (playwright), Michael Kahn (director), Trevor Nunn (director), Martin Pakledinaz (costume designer), Paula Vogel (playwright), and Sam Waterston (actor). Tyne Daly will act as the Mistress of Ceremonies at the event.

This program partners public media stations with Shakespeare festivals and theatre companies across the country to raise awareness of the upcoming SHAKESPEARE UNCOVERED series, foster enthusiasm for Shakespeare's work at the local level, and engage and build new audiences for public media and the performing arts in creative and innovative ways.
