The Five Dollar Recession Theatre Company, Nashville's newest theatrical outfit, makes its debut Thursday, June 23, with its production of Martin McDonagh's The Cripple of Inishmaan, playing at the Belmont Little Theatre (underneath Hail Hall on the Belmont University campus) through Sunday, June 26.

Eric Rosen, Artistic Director of Kansas City Repertory Theatre, has cast thirteen veteran Kansas City actors in the Rep's production of Tracy Letts' August: Osage County, which Rosen will direct. The show runs September 16-October 9 at the Rep's Spencer Theatre.

Entrepreneur, Philanthropist, and Geffen Playhouse Board Member, Cynthia Stafford, will host the 1st Annual Cynthia Stafford's 'Gifted Day at the Geffen' at 9:45 a.m. on Wednesday, June 15th at the Geffen Playhouse in Westwood, Calif. Nominations in 26 competitive categories for the American Theatre Wing's 65th Annual Antoinette Perry 'Tony' Awards were announced May 3, 2011 by Tony Award winning actor Matthew Broderick and Tony Award winning actress Anika Noni Rose, at the Tony Award Nominations Announcement sponsored by IBM.

At its 38th annual celebration of Chicago's non-union theatre scene, the Jeff Awards honored 27 award recipients for excellence Monday evening at the Park West. The event, emceed by Circle Theatre's Kevin Bellie for the second consecutive year, featured production numbers by the nominated musicals and presentation of awards, two of which were delivered by robots. The robots, created for Sideshow Theatre Company's 'Heddatron,' earned their creators an award for Robot Design and Engineering in the Artistic Specialization category, shared with Izumi Inaba, who received an award for makeup design for 'Cats' at Theo Ubique Cabaret Theatre in association with Michael James.

Single Carrot Theatre, Baltimore's award-winning ensemble theatre, announces it has selected ensemble member Nathan Cooper as its new Artistic Director.

The Waterfront Playhouse announced auditions for 'August: Osage County,' the Pulitzer Prize and Tony Award-winning play, which will be part of the 2011/12 season. Auditions will be held Tuesday, May 31, 5 to 8 pm at the Waterfront Playhouse. Production dates for the show are scheduled for December 20, 2011 to January 14, 2012, with rehearsals beginning sometime early November.
