Ted Cubbin's new comedy The Rufus Equation, which had its world premiere at the 2013 New York International Fringe Festival, has been extended into the Fringe Encore Series, with five performances added for Sunday, September 8 at 3:00 p.m. & 8:00 p.m., Tuesday September 10 at 8:00 p.m., and Sunday. September 15 at 3:00 p.m. & 8:00 p.m. at The Players Theater (115 MacDougal Street, NYC). Tickets for these added performances are available through www.TheRufusEquation.com.

The 2013 New York International Fringe Festival has its first break-out hit with Ted Cubbin's new comedy The Rufus Equation, a world premiere production directed by Tom Ridgely, the Drama Desk-nominated director and co-founder of Waterwell. The Rufus Equation played to a sold out house this past Tuesday evening at The Connelly Theater (220 East 4th Street, NYC), the Fringe Festival's largest venue. In addition, this Saturday's performance (August 17 at 6:15 p.m.) is also sold-out.

The Public Theater (Artistic Director, Oskar Eustis; Executive Director, Patrick Willingham) and the Shakespeare Society (Artistic Director, Michael Sexton; Executive Director, Betsy Davidson Pickering) are now accepting applications for the 2013-2014Shakespeare Works Artist Residencies, part of the Shakespeare Society's Shakespeare Works program. The residencies will culminate in panel discussions about Shakespeare's plays, hosted by The Public Theater. The first two panel discussions will take place on Monday, September 30 and Monday, December 2 at 425 Lafayette Street.

Waterwell will provide a sneak preview of Otis Sallid and AaRon Jones' new musical, Hamelin, as the culmination of its inaugural Summer Theater Lab today, August 3 at 5pm at The Ailey Studios, 405 W 55th Street.

Playhouse on Park, Hartford county's most affordable and intimate professional theatre, is ready to announce its 5th Anniversary Season. In 2013-2014 the Playhouse will feature 6 productions that will entertain, challenge, and engage audiences.

Geoffrey Arend will lead the cast as Professor Bert Rufus. Arend's film and television credits include Garden State, Supertroopers, (500) Days of Summer, Save the Date, Beach Pillows, Devil, The Ringer, 'The Closer' (TNT), 'Law & Order' (NBC), 'Trust Me' (TNT) and 'Body of Proof' (ABC). Onstage he was seen in The American Pilot (MTC) and Mother Courage and Her Children (Public).

The Waterwell Drama Program announced today that it has been awarded a $20,000 Art Works grant from the National Endowment for the Arts to support its Performance Projects at the Professional Performing Arts School.

They join the previously announced Kyra Sedgwick ("The Closer"), Bobby Cannavale("Boardwalk Empire"), Stephen Adly Guirgis (Tony Nominee, The Mother****** with the Hat), Megan Hilty ("Smash"), Lin-Manuel Miranda (In the Heights) and Beau Willimon ("House of Cards") who serve as Master Class Artists for the company's inaugural Summer Theater Lab. Casey McClellen and Kyle Pleasant also join the faculty.
