1984 Comes Brings Big Brother to Reckless Theatre
by A.A. Cristi - Jul 7, 2017

Viewed through the eye of the Party, this take on Orwell's frighteningly relevant novel leaves behind the narrative of Winston and Julia, instead exploring the world, themes, and peripheral characters. It asks the audience to question their own relationship to truth, indoctrination, sex, community, and torture. War is Peace, Freedom is Slavery, Ignorance is Strength, Tragedy is Comedy. Fridays and Saturdays July 28th-August 5th, the cast performs 1984. They will perform 2 shows on Friday, July 28th; Saturday, July 29th; and Friday, August 4th at 7:30 and 9:30pm, with the closing performance on Saturday August 5th at 7:30pm. Directed by Tom Kelley and Anne Veal, 1984's cast is pulled from the company and student body of Reckless Theatre, founded and directed by Christian Capozzoli, ranked one of the top five improv comedy clubs in NYC by TimeOut New York.
