Brooklyn Center for the Performing Arts at Brooklyn College announces its 56th season of music, dance, theater, and family programming reflecting the multicultural diversity of Brooklyn. The outstanding line-up features musical artists representing the genres of Latin Jazz, reggae, gospel, Broadway, klezmer, big band, and children's music.

Offering up greater variety, including more than 50 debuts from Sting to Wagnerian tenor John Treleaven, Ravinia Festival Chairperson Pamela B. Strobel and President and CEO Welz Kauffman today announced details of the 2010 season, including a Chicago Symphony Orchestra residency that celebrates major anniversaries of Mahler, Chopin, Schumann, Barber, Bernstein and Copland, as well as milestone birthdays of Music Director James Conlon, Christoph Eschenbach and Stephen Sondheim. The season, featuring 117 separate events, runs from June 3 through September 7.

The Emelin Theatre has added two November concerts to its season with Simone-the accomplished jazz singer and daughter of Nina Simone- on November 7, and legendary girl group vocalist and Rock and Roll Hall of Famer Ronnie Spector on November 15. In addition to the line-up of concerts this fall, including country music chart-topper Bryan White (October 24) and Tony Award-winner and jazz singer Ann Hampton Callaway (October 25), the Emelin's 2008-2009 season will feature film, music, family programs and more.

The Emelin's family programming this year expands its strong tradition of quality, fun and enriching performing arts events for younger audiences with more shows throughout the season. Super Saturdays: Family Fun highlights include the highly praised black light puppet show, The Mermaid Theatre of Nova Scotia's The Very Hungry Caterpillar, celebrated folk singer Tom Chapin, several books brought to life by Theatreworks USA productions, kindie rockers Hot Peas N' Butter, as well as Film Club Jr. in collaboration with the New York International Children's Film Festival.
