The Manhattan Association of Cabarets (MAC) has announced the 2022 winners of the Dottie Burman and John Wallowitch songwriting awards. Each recipient receives $500.

Emmy-nominated actress Phylicia Rashad, from stage and television's 'The Cosby Show' and 'This Is Us,' will on kick off the 2020 ArtsRock Season 'In Conversation' with ArtsRock Executive Director Elliott Forrest on Sept. 24th.

Marjorie Waldo, President & CEO of Arts Garage, today announced that the nonprofit organization is launching a new monthly musical presentation featuring three amazing singer-songwritersa?"the Out of the House Concert Series, presented in collaboration with RoamingtheArts.com.

According to Deadline, a biographical stage musical about 1970s singer-songwriter Harry Chapin is in the works. The project has gotten the support of Chapin's wife Sandy and brothers Tom Chapin and Steve Chapin, who will serve as consultants on the project.

New York's largest holiday festival kicks off with the Upper West Side's only tree lighting ceremony on Monday, December 2, 2019 at 5:30 p.m.

In an election year marked by an outpouring of grassroots energy, artists are also working hard to make electoral change in the midterms. So far, 15 artists spanning  a variety of genres have recorded songs for a free digital album, Songs for Swing Left. This is not a standard PSA or call to vote:  downloading any of the tracks on this album will connect listeners to other Swing Left volunteers in their area as well as match them with high-impact things they can do (like canvassing and calling voters in nearby Swing Districts) to help flip the House blue in the upcoming midterm elections. A longtime member of the Grammy-nominated a cappella band, the Bobs, LA-based composer/vocalist Amy Engelhardt delivered a riotously funny hour of song at Don't Tell Mama on what she conceded was a “shvitzy” Sunday in June (the 19th to be exact). Three o'clock on Father's Day may not be the best slot for a gig, but the Berklee College of Music-trained musician (and 2011 MAC Dottie Burman Award-winner for songwriting) brought her signature wit and warmth to what felt as much like an intimate gathering in her living room as a formal cabaret performance. Engelhardt's show, My Own Devices, featured material from her first album, “Not Gonna Be Pretty,” as well as material to appear on her upcoming second CD release.

The Board of ArtsRock has announced that Elliott Forrest, Artistic Director of the organization from its inception in 2008 will become the non-profit's first Executive Director starting July 1, 2016. Forrest will remain as Artistic Director in addition to his new role for ArtsRock who served over 2,000 audience members during their 2015-2016 Winter/Spring Season. Offering residents in and around Rockland County access to professional arts and multi-cultural programs all at reasonable ticket prices.

On Saturday, April 2, Patchogue Theatre for the Performing Arts (PTPA) will reopen its doors to the general public for the Seventh Patchogue Folk Festival, after an extensive renovation of the historic venue's interior. This year the Chapin Family will headline the festival, which will begin with a free concert at 2 p.m. in Patchogue Theatre's revitalized lobby featuring Long Island musicians performing original music and folk favorites.
