Today, Nancy Rhodes, Artistic Director announced that the Honorary Chairs, Sheldon Harnick and Maury Yeston join Encompass New Opera Theatre in celebrating Alan Menken's life in the American theatre, film and recording world on Sunday, October 21, 2012 at the National Arts Club, 15 Gramercy Park South, New York City.

The Path Fund, Inc. has announced that Tony Award nominees John Tartaglia (Avenue Q) and Chad Kimball (Memphis) and Tony Award winner Alice Ripley (Next to Normal) along with Jeremy Kushnier (Jersey Boys) and Tituss Burgess (The Little Mermaid) will appear in the upcoming "ROCKERS ON BROADWAY - BEHIND THE MUSIC" concert scheduled to take place on Monday October 15th at the newly re-designed Cutting Room reopened at its new location (44 East 32nd Street, NYC) at 8:00PM.

Today in 2009, The Little Mermaid closed at the Lunt-Fontanne Theatre, where it ran for 685 performances. The Little Mermaid is based on the animated 1989 Disney film of the same name and the classic story of The Little Mermaid by Hans Christian Andersen. The musical's book is by Doug Wright, music by Alan Menken and lyrics by the late Howard Ashman (written for the film) and new lyrics by Glenn Slater. The original cast featured Sierra Boggess in the title role of Ariel, Sean Palmer as Prince Eric, Brian D'Addario and Trevor Braun alternate as Flounder, Norm Lewis as King Triton, Sherie Rene Scott as Ursula, Tituss Burgess as Sebastian, Tyler Maynard as Flotsam, Derrick Baskin as Jetsam, Jonathan Freeman as Grimsby, and John Treacy Egan as Chef Louis.

Philadelphia's Broadway dreams came true for the fourth consecutive summer when The Broadway Dreams Foundation (BDF) partnered with The Kimmel Center for the Performing Arts to present their Summer Performing Arts Intensive, July 30 through August 5, 2012. Jason Robert Brown, Tony Award-winner for Parade, and a faculty of Broadway professionals taught master classes during the week to aspiring Philadelphia area students interested in pursuing a career in musical theatre. The Time Out New York Lounge at New World Stages (340 West 50th Street between 8th and 9th Avenues) will celebrate the Fifth Anniversary of its popular weekly open mic night, Songs at the New World, on Monday August 13th. Described as "a boozy, belting, bash," the evening will be hosted by Colleen Harris and Ben Cameron, with music direction by Michael James Roy and special performances from Tituss Burgess, Paige Turner, and Lindsay Morgan.

XL Nightclub will be premiering their new weekly show CURTAINS UP with nightlife host Marti Gould Cummings beginning tonight, August 6th. The show will begin with an old fashioned musical theatre sing along and happy hour at 7PM followed by live performances by Cummings and a new weekly guest at 9PM. The concert is a free event.

Stage Entertainment, in cooperation with Disney Theatrical Productions, present the Dutch premiere of The Little Mermaid, which premiered on Broadway in 2007. After presenting Tarzan, Beauty and the Beast and The Lion King, the Netherlands is the first country to scoop the European premiere of the Disney musical. Disney's The Little Mermaid opened on May 12, premiering at Martini Plaza in Groningen and then playing larger theaters in the Netherlands.

A week's end, the Broadway faculty will perform alongside BDF students in "Express Yourself," a unique concert event directed by acclaimed New York director Matt Lenz (Hairspray, Beauty and the Beast) at the Kimmel Center for Performing Arts' Perelman Theater on Saturday, August 4, 2012 at 3 pm and 8 pm.
