HAMILTON began performances on Tuesday, January 20 and has been extended twice through April 5, with an official press opening on Tuesday, February 17 at the Public Theater. This world premiere musical features a book, music, and lyrics by Lin-Manuel Miranda; is inspired by the book 'AlexanderHamilton' by Ron Chernow; with choreography by Andy Blankenbuehler; and directed byThomas Kail. The New Yorker's Rebecca Mead just profiled Miranda, writing about his writing process, time in ehearsals and more! Miranda told TNY: "I really got my 'Les Miz' on in this score, like being really smart about where to reintroduce a theme. In terms of how it accesses your tear ducts, nothing does it better than that show."

For the second year in a row, South Orange Performing Arts Center (SOPAC) has been selected by the New Jersey State Council on the Arts to host the New Jersey Region 5 preliminary rounds of competition of the Poetry Out Loud program on Wednesday, February 11 at 10am.

The Public Theater announced a second extension today for the world premiere musical HAMILTON, beginning previews on Tuesday, January 20 in The Public's Newman Theater. Inspired by the book "Alexander Hamilton" by Ron Chernow, with book, music, and lyrics by Lin-Manuel Miranda and directed by Thomas Kail, HAMILTON will now run through Sunday, April 5 with an official press opening on Tuesday, February 17.

After a sold-out smash performance at the American Philosophical Society, Salon Sanctuary Concerts will present a production of 'More Between Heaven And Eaeth' next weekend at the site-specific historical banquet room at Fraunces Tavern in NYC for the third year in a row. On January 18 (4PM), the RSC's Jonathan Cake will take on the role of Thomas Jefferson in this unique production, complete with orchestra and operatic performers, which tells the story of the fascinating 60-year relationship between Thomas Jefferson and Maria Cosway. Kathleen Chalfant, who originated her role, plays the narrator. In previous years, the role of Jefferson was played by Matthew Modine, Campbell Scott and Ezra Barnes. Producers Cameron Mackintosh and The Really Useful Group announced today a new leading man for the Broadway production of Andrew Lloyd Webber'sTHE PHANTOM OF THE OPERA, directed by Harold Prince. The longest-running show in Broadway history, and one of the most successful stage productions of all-time, PHANTOM will welcome Broadway star James Barbour when he takes over the title role beginning Monday, February 9, 2015.
