BWW Review: Ocean State Theatre Tells a Timely Story of Politics and History with 1776

Some events in history cry out to be made into a movie or a book or a stage play. Others don't seem like such an obvious choice at first glance. One might guess it would be quite difficult to pull off creating a musical out of the writing of the Declaration of Independence, of all things. But, as Ocean State Theatre Company proves with its current production, 1776 is both fascinating and fun, both engaging and entertaining, as it tells the story of the Declaration's creation and our country's birth.

The 6th annual BROADWAY BELTS FOR PFF! - a concert that raises much-needed funds for Pulmonary Fibrosis Foundation - will be the recipient of a Mayor Proclamation when the event takes place on Monday, February 29 at the Edison Ballroom (240 W. 47 St.) at 6;30 pm in NYC, it has been announced by Julie Halston, the event's emcee and one of its founders and producers.

Better news - this means that Digital #Ham4Ham is back, featuring surprise performances from the cast. Today's #Ham4Ham video features Lin-Manuel Miranda in his first time onstage at Hunter College Elementary School's Talent Show. Below, watch 1st-grade Lin lip-sync to 'Land of Confusion' by Genesis (featuring lead singer Phil Collins, of course). Commenting on his hip shades, Miranda wrote, 'The sunglasses were a whole thing, I had to get rid of them.' But we think they were a pretty good look!
