Barrington Stage Company (BSC), under the leadership of Julianne Boyd, Artistic Director, and Tristan Wilson, Managing Director, has purchased the Pittsfield V.F.W. at 36 Linden Street thanks to a generous gift from long-time BSC supporters Sydelle and Lee Blatt. Built in 1972 as Local V.F.W. Post 448, the 40-year-old building, which BSC has been leasing as Stage 2 since 2008, will now serve as its permanent home for new plays and musicals and an all-new cabaret space.

The Laguna Playhouse today announced its 2012-2013 season - a season filled with award-winning writers, directors and acting ensembles.

At a press conference held at Barrington Stage Company's Stage 2, Artistic Director Julianne Boyd announced the complete season of performances that will take place in Downtown Pittsfield in the Mainstage, Stage 2 and Youth Theatre venues in 2012. The schedule for the five new plays featured in the Great Gay Play Fest as staged readings March 3 - 6, 2011, at the Hoover-Leppen Theater at the Center on Halsted in Chicago, has been set. And five esteemed Chicago directors are working to make these plays a reality. After the final reading on Sunday, Pride Films and Plays will announce both an Audience Favorite Award, and the juried winner, as our reading panel included Marshall W. Mason, Jason Moore, Doug Finlayson, Patricia Kane, Jeremy Cohen, Patrick Trettenero, Brian Fonseca, and theater professionals across the country.

About Face Theatre Artistic Director Bonnie Metzgar and Executive Director Jason Held are pleased to announce that LET THEM EAT CAKE, a piece conceived and developed by Holly Hughes, Mo Angelos and AFT Artistic Associate Megan Carney in the 2009 XYZ Festival of New Work, has been nominated in the category of «Outstanding New York Theatre: Off-Off Broadway» for this year's GLAAD Media Awards.
