Theatre 167 has been awarded a grant from The Arch & Bruce Brown Foundation to support their current production of PIRIRA. Founded in 1994 by the late playwright/filmmaker Arch Brown in memory of his life partner of 28 years, Bruce Allen Brown, the Arch & Bruce Brown Foundation honors outstanding plays and fiction dealing with LGBT history or placing lesbian/gay/bisexual/transgender characters in historical settings.

JERICHO59E59 Theaters welcomes the return of The Directors Company with the New York premiere of JERICHO, written by Jack Canfora and directed by Evan Bergman. THEATRE 167 has announced the world premiere production of J. Stephen Brantley's PIRIRA, directed by Artistic Director Ari Laura Kreith (The Jackson Heights Trilogy). PIRIRA will play a limited engagement at The Chain (21-28 45th Road, Long Island City, NY 11101). Performances begin tonight, October 17 and continue through Sunday, November 10. Opening Night is Friday, October 18 (8 p.m.).

The next Playwrights for Pets event is The Money Tree, written by Edward Musto and directed by Judd Silverman. There will be two readings of this timely and entertaining play: Sunday, November 3 at 3 pm and Monday, November 4 at 7 pm. Running time is approximately 90 minutes.

This play about friendship, class and where loyalty has its limits is directed by Flea Resident Director Kel Haney and features members of The Bats. Previews began August 23 with closing originally slated for September 22.

It is adapted and directed by Julie Kramer, and developed with actor and writer Amy Wilson. Two additional performances -- Monday, Oct. 15 at 8:30pm & Saturday, Oct. 20 at 4pm -- have been added to the performances schedule at HERE.
