Open Fist Theatre to Open THE GOOD THIEF, 3/24

The Open Fist Theatre Company presents THE GOOD THIEF, written by Conor McPherson and directed by Scott Paulin (Foote Notes, St. Nicholas) and starring Michael McGee. Mr. Paulin and Mr. McGee's previous collaboration on the McPherson play St. Nicholas was a critically-acclaimed endeavor at the Stephanie Feury Theatre. THE GOOD THIEF, will preview on St. Patrick's Day - Sunday, March 17 at 7pm; Monday, March 18 at 8pm and will open on Sunday, March 24 at 7pm and runs through Monday, April 29 at the Open Fist Theatre, 6209 Santa Monica Blvd. in Hollywood.
Pace University to Welcome Ultima Vez, Performing WHAT THE BODY DOES NOT REMEMBER, 3/22-23

Pace Presents announces the arrival of the Ultima Vez, a Belgium-based dance company currently embarking on a US Tour to the Michael Schimmel Center for the Arts for a two-evening engagement, Friday March 22 & Saturday March 23 at 7:30pm. The company will perform What the Body Does Not Remember which Artistic Director Wim Vandekeybus debuted with Ultima Vez in 1987, stunning the dance world at the time winning a Bessie for this 'brutal confrontation of dance and music.' In 2013, 25 years later and with a new cast, the show once again is on a world tour.

Kim Stanley is an iconic actress who is legendary on Broadway and in Hollywood but almost unknown to the public. alled the Female Brando, she made just four movies but was nominated twice for an Academy Award. She originated the dynamic characterization of Cherie in the original Broadway production of Bus Stop, a performance that Marilyn Monroe studied multiple times before appropriating it for the film version. To bring the story of Kim Stanley to the world, three theatre professionals and former students of hers have interviewed over 60 people around the world, including Lord Richard Attenborough, Sydney Pollack, Arthur Penn, Jessica Lange, Ellen Burstyn, Horton Foote, Eli Wallach and Lauren Hutton. THE NEEDS OF KIM STANLEY focuses on Kim's artistry and her approach to acting, epitomized by the exercise she created called 'The Needs.'

The Oscar-winning and Tony-nominated actress Estelle Parsons will be honored at La Mama's annual benefit fundraiser, along with longtime La MaMa board member Peter Swords tonight, February 27, 2013 at the Ellen Stewart Theatre (66 E. 4 St.), it was previously announced by Mia Yoo, Artistic Director of La MaMa, and Frank Carucci, President of the theatre's Board of Directors.

Frog and Peach Theatre Company will present a star-studded reading of Shakespeare's 'Measure for Measure' today, February 26 at The Player's Club, 16 Grammercy Park South, with a cast including Austin Pendleton as Angelo and Darrell Hammond as Pompey, together with Frog and Peach company members Ted Zurkowski as Lucio, Amy Frances Quint as Isabel, Eric Doss as Provost, Ryan Tramont as Escalus, Erick Gonzalez as Claudio and Jonathan Reed Wexler as Elbow. An original score by Ian McDonald (King Crimson, Foreigner) will be performed live by Mr. McDonald.

Marie Curie, the only person, male or female, to win a Nobel Prize in two different scientific fields, a woman who discovered two elements, polonium and radium, and a woman whose personal life was rocked by tragedy and scandal, is the subject of Shirley Lauro's New York premiere drama, The Radiant, beginning previews tonight, February 21, at 8:00pm for an opening Saturday, February 23, at 8:00pm at the Theater at the 14th Street Y, 344 East 14th Street.
