Cast Announced for STC's RICHARD THE THIRD

After his hit production of King Charles III, David Muse returns to Shakespeare Theatre Company to direct Shakespeare's Richard the Third, a mesmerizing chronicle of the megalomaniac's rampage to the throne. The production will play at Sidney Harman Hall (610 F Street NW) from February 5-March 10, 2019.

Kahchun Wong Will Make Royal Liverpool Philharmonic Debut

On December 6, 2018, Kahchun Wong, Chief Conductor of the Nuremberg Symphony, will make his Royal Liverpool Philharmonic Orchestra debut leading the orchestra in a varied program repertoire that showcases his versatility as an artist with works by Dukas, Bartok, Barber, and Stravinsky. Joining Wong and the Royal Liverpool Philharmonic Orchestra will be pianist Denis Kozhukhin. Wong makes another major debut in February 2019, when he joins the New York Philharmonic for the first time ever in his New York debut, conducting their annual Lunar New Year Concert.

The Orchestra Now (T?N) begins its third Rose Theater season at Jazz at Lincoln Center's Frederick P. Rose Hall on Sunday, November 11, 2018 at 3pm. Led by the renowned conductor, composer, visual artist, and UNESCO Goodwill Ambassador Tan Dun, the program will be highlighted by the U.S. premiere of his Cello Concerto: Intercourse of Fire and Water, performed by Chinese soloist Jing Zhao in her Lincoln Center debut. The concert also includes another Tan Dun work: Passacaglia: Secret of Wind and Birds, commissioned by Carnegie Hall in 2015 for the National Youth Orchestra of the United States. The music draws on forms from East and West, ancient and modern, and incorporates birdsong produced by smartphone.

Nai-Ni Chen Dance Company To Join Germany/Luxembourg Choreographer Hannah Ma In Workshop And Performance At Tuchfabrik Center In Trier, Germany October 2018

Nai-Ni Chen opened her 2019 season with a theme of collaboration and outreach, especially with other diverse, immigrant women choreographers from all over the world. On October 22, Nai-Ni Chen Dance Company will conduct a weeklong residency and choreographic exchange with Germany's HannahMaDance headed by Luxembourg/Trier based choreographer Hannah Ma. During the residency, Nai-Ni Chen will be developing a new work using the music of Chinese Bamboo Rap (Kuaiban), Chinese Martial Art and Hip-Hop. A final performance of the work-in-progress, currently titled Speaking in Tongues, will be shown to the public in Germany on Sunday, October 28, 2018. Daniel Harding To Lead Royal Concertgebouw Orchestra In February 2019 Concerts

Carnegie Hall today announced that British conductor Daniel Harding will return to Stern Auditorium / Perelman Stage to lead Amsterdam's renowned Royal Concertgebouw Orchestra in two back-to-back concerts in February, as part of the orchestra's spring 2019 US tour. Maestro Harding, who last appeared at Carnegie Hall in 2008, replaces Daniele Gatti for these February performances.

This fall, cello soloist Maya Beiser and composer/conductor Evan Ziporyn embark on a U.S. tour with Ziporyn's Ambient Orchestra, bringing Bowie Symphonic: Blackstar to the Moss Arts Center at Virginia Tech in Blacksburg, VA (Friday, October 12); the Flynn Center for the Performing Arts in Burlington, VT (Saturday, October 13), Bass Concert Hall presented by Texas Performing Arts in Austin, TX (Thursday, November 1), and Bing Concert Hall presented by Stanford Live in Stanford, CA (Wednesday, November 7). Bowie Symphonic: Blackstar is a startling and soaring new version of David Bowie's entire last album Blackstar for solo cello and orchestra. Arranged for Beiser by Ziporyn, who will also conduct Ambient Orchestra, Bowie Symphonic: Blackstar has been performed to capacity audiences in Boston, Barcelona, and New York City's Central Park SummerStage. For the fall tour, Ambient Orchestra is joined by musicians from Boston Conservatory at Berklee.

The Orchestra Now (T?N) will launch its 2018 fall season with two concerts in its popular Sight & Sound series at the Metropolitan Museum of Art. The opening performance on September 30 is Mahler and the Feminine Ideal, juxtaposing the works of Klimt, Schiele, and Picasso with Mahler's Kindertotenlier sung by baritone Michael Anthony McGee. On November 18, the second program features Avery Fisher Career Grant winner pianist Orion Weiss in an afternoon of Chopin, Delacroix, and theRomantic Impulse.

The Chamber Music Society of Detroit's 75th anniversary season will celebrate its history with special concerts in venues that were home to its series over the years, including Orchestra Hall and the DIA, while expanding its reach with a new Regional Partnership series offering four weekends of performances in Grosse Pointe, Canton and Rochester Hills. The stellar line-up of world renowned artists and ensembles across four series includes pianists Leon Fleisher, Olga Kern and Richard Goode, London's Academy of St. Martin in the Fields, and the Juilliard, Pacifica, Dover and Miro Quartets, among others.

Kent Tritle is Director of Cathedral Music and Organist at New York's Cathedral of St. John the Divine, the largest cathedral in the world; Music Director of the Oratorio Society of New York, the acclaimed 200-voice volunteer chorus; and Music Director of Musica Sacra, New York's longest continuously performing professional chorus. The 2018-19 season of “New York's choral conducting superstar” (Time Out New York) is marked by the expansion of the Oratorio Society's Carnegie Hall season from three to four concerts, which will include Kullervo, the rarely-performed symphonic poem by Sibelius, Szymanowski's Stabat Mater, and Verdi's Requiem.
