Park Square Theatre to Present MARY T. & LIZZY K., 10/18-11/10

Park Square celebrates the recent Minnesota History Center exhibit honoring of the Civil War, and rides the popularity of the Steven Spielberg-Tony Kushner movie Lincoln with the Midwest Premiere of MARY T. & LIZZY K. by Tazewell Thompson from Oct 18 - Nov 10. The play, which had its world premiere in March at Arena Stage in Washington, DC, focuses on the unique business relationship and complex friendship between Mary Todd Lincoln (played by five-time Emmy Award nominee Linda Kelsey) and her free mixed-race seamstress Lizzy Keckly (played by Sha Cage in her Park Square debut, hot off her success in Clyborne Park at The Guthrie).

The multi-hyphenated Woody Allen will be honored with the 2014 Cecil B. DeMille Award and will be paid tribute to at the 71st Annual Golden Globe Awards on Sunday, January 12, 2014, LIVE coast-to-coast on NBC with the pre-show from 4:00-5:00 p.m. (PST)/7:00-8:00 p.m. (EST), and main telecast from 5:00-8:00 p.m. (PST)/8:00-11:00 p.m. (EST) from the Beverly Hilton Hotel. It was announced today by Theo Kingma, president of the Hollywood Foreign Press Association (HFPA).

It will be possible to "sit and chat" with Tony Kushner, Pulitzer Prize-winning playwright and Oscar nominated screenwriter?and author of Angels in America and Caroline, or Change when he shares his outspoken views on "taboo" subjects in contemporary history. This evening of entertaining conversation and mesmerizing storytelling will take place on stage at The Ridgefield Playhouse on Thursday, November 14, at 7:30 p.m. hosted by Emmy award-winning journalist Morton Dean who will lead an audience Q&A. Syfy announces additional casting for Season 2 of its highly-rated and groundbreaking drama series, Defiance.
