La Jolla Playhouse announces the cast and creative team for Yoshimi Battles the Pink Robots, a world-premiere musical featuring a story by The Flaming Lips' Wayne Coyne and Playhouse Director Emeritus Des McAnuff (Jersey Boys, Jesus Christ Superstar), music and lyrics by The Flaming Lips, and direction by Des McAnuff. At a launch event for the Irish premiere season of THE LION KING, held today in Dublin, Disney Theatrical Group President and Producer Thomas Schumacher gave those in attendance an exclusive look at Disney's award-winning musical, and explained how the legendary production was created.

I suppose there's nothing unusual about a little kid waking up one morning to see a group of her parents' friends socializing around the family piano.  It's just that when you're young Loni Ackerman, those friends include Mayor John Lindsay, Ted Kennedy, Ralph Nader, several members of the Black Panthers and, playing the piano, football star Rosie Greer.

SHN today announced the return engagement of the Tony, Grammy and Olivier Award-winning hit musical JERSEY BOYS, the story of Frankie Valli and The Four Seasons. The musical will make its much-anticipated return to San Francisco at the SHN Curran Theatre on March 9, 2013. JERSEY BOYS replaces the previously postponed World Premiere of DINER on the SHN 2012-2013 Season. Tickets for the return of JERSEY BOYS go on sale Friday, October 26 at 10 a.m.

Disney's THE LION KING will make its South American premiere in São Paulo, Brazil. T4F (Time For Fun), will present the production with its opening night on March 7th, 2013 at the Teatro Abril. THE LION KING in São Paulo will mark two firsts: as the largest stage musical ever presented in Brazil and the first time the show has been performed in Portuguese. When the South American production opens, it will mark the sixth continent in which THE LION KING will have played and will become the 21st production, worldwide.

Producers Broadway Across America (John Gore, Thomas B. McGrath, Beth Williams), Barbara Whitman, Latitude Link, Dede Harris, Sharon Karmazin, and Howard and Janet Kagan have just announced that the La Jolla Playhouse production of the new American musical HANDS ON A HARDBODY will open Thursday, March 21, 2013 at Broadway's Brooks Atkinson Theatre (256 West 47th Street), following a preview period that begins Saturday, February 23, 2013. Disney's THE LION KING continues to reign across North America with a sold-out, record-breaking engagement in Wichita, which concluded on Sunday, September 30 at the Century II Concert Hall. The premiere four-week engagement grossed over $4.3 million at the box office and entertained more than 60,000 patrons, making it the highest-grossing theatrical production in Wichita history.

Broadway In Boston has announced that the highly anticipated Tony®, Grammy® and Olivier Award-winning hit musical JERSEY BOYS, the story of Frankie Valli and The Four Seasons returns to the Citi Performing Arts Center Emerson Colonial Theatre for a limited five week engagement January 30-March 3, 2012 as part of the Lexus Broadway In Boston Series.

Dates have been announced for the Pittsburgh return engagement of the Tony, Grammy and Olivier Award-winning hit musical JERSEY BOYS, the story of Frankie Valli and The Four Seasons. The musical will make its much-anticipated return to the Benedum Center for the Performing Arts tonight, September 4, through Sunday, September 23, 2012.

Disney's landmark musical event, THE LION KING, will play its 6138th performance this Wednesday, August 15th at 2:00pm, becoming the fifth longest-running show in Broadway history. THE LION KING will surpass the original Broadway production of A Chorus Line (with 6137 performances).
