CENTERSTAGE Presents 50 Monologues by 50 Playwrights in MY AMERICA, Beg. 9/28

CENTERSTAGE announces its electrifying, one-of-a-kind artistic initiative, My America-50 new monologues by 50 of America's leading and emerging playwrights, all filmed by award-winning filmmaker Hal Hartley. The films will debut at the theater on September 28, and begin a staggered release online at www.centerstage.org/MyAmerica, culminating on Election Day, November 6.

CENTERSTAGE's historic 50th Anniversary Season officially kicks off with AN ENEMY OF THE PEOPLE, directed by Artistic Director Kwame Kwei-Armah, in a landmark production that takes Arthur Miller's translation of Ibsen's classic and uses it to examine the contemporary media landscape. The production begins previews September 19 and opens September 27.

Though only one of the stories that's adapted for AN O.HENRY CHRISTMAS, 'The Gift of the Magi', is truly Christmas-themed, this musical adaptation of writer William Sidney Porter, who's certainly more recognizable under his pen name, O. Henry, delivers enough positive messages about faith, hope and love to make it perfectly suited for the holiday season. Avalon Theatre Company is offering up a solid presentation of this work that's greatly enhanced by sensitive direction and a strong cast.
