Stephen Chapin Kinnaman Spotlights Forgotten Civil War Hero in New Book
by Christina Mancuso - Oct 16, 2013

James Dunwoody Bulloch - who died in England, far from his Georgian roots - has been described as the forgotten hero of the South. In his new book, author Stephen Chapin Kinnaman details the life and times of this extraordinary Civil War figure, best known as a secret agent of the Confederate States Navy in Europe. It was Bulloch who got to sea the most deadly raider of all time, the C.S.S. Alabama. His family connections, however, were equally impressive; Bulloch's nephew was Theodore Roosevelt, the country's 26th president.
