Tonight, August 13, Broadway at Birdland presents multi-Grammy and Tony-nominated composer Frank Wildhorn in his monthly concert series called "Frank & Friends." Joining Frank onstage will be Constantine Maroulis (upcoming star of Jekyll & Hyde), Laura Osnes (Tony nominee/Bonnie & Clyde and upcoming Cinderella), Melissa van der Schyff (Bonnie & Clyde) and Stark Sands (upcoming Kinky Boots).

The World Premiere of Kinky Boots, the new musical brings together four-time Tony® Award-winner Harvey Fierstein (Book) and Grammy® Award-winning rock icon Cyndi Lauper (Music & Lyrics). Directed and choreographed by Tony® Award-winner Jerry Mitchell, Kinky Boots will play the Bank of America Theatre (18 West Monroe Street, Chicago, IL) beginning October 2 through November 4, 2012, in advance of a Broadway opening. On Monday, July 16, Broadway at Birdland was proud to present another "Frank & Friends," a monthly concert hosted by multi-Grammy and Tony nominated composer Frank Wildhorn. Joining Frank onstage was the gifted Grammy-nominated jazz singer Jane Monheit, Las Vegas and Cafe Carlyle headliner Clint Holmes, and a band that included David Mann on woodwinds, Chris Lightcap on bass and Clint de Ganon on drums. The historic room was packed with showbiz glitterati, including Chita Rivera (upcoming Drood), Ben Vereen, Constantine Maroulis (upcoming Jekyll & Hyde), Sara Gettelfinger (Addams Family tour), Patrick Page (Spiderman: Turn Off The Dark), and Paige Davis (host of the upcoming talk show "Home & Family").

Michael Riedel reports in today's The New York Post that 'It appears that Jujamcyn's got "Kinky Boots" and will put it in the Al Hirschfeld Theatre next spring following an out-of-town tryout in Chicago in the fall. Jujamcyn's co-producer will be Hal Luftig, who's on a roll with the hit revival of Evita.'

BroadwayWorld previously reported that the musical version of KINKY BOOTS, which had a New York reading back in October, is aiming to open on Broadway next season. Producer Daryl Roth revealed in a newsletter that the production would include the talents of Broadway veterans Stark Sands and Billy Porter. The musical features music and lyrics by Cyndi Lauper and a book by Harvey Fierstein. Tony-winner Jerry Mtchell will both direct and choreograph the production. According to the Chicago Tribune, the production might make a stop in Chicago before landing on Broadway. A spokesperson for Broadway in Chicago revealed that the show is looking into playing the Windy City for its out-of-town tryout, before opening on Broadway in the 2012-13 season.
