Kinky Boots, the hotly anticipated new musical that brings together four-time Tony Award-winner Harvey Fierstein (Book) and Grammy Award-winning rock icon Cyndi Lauper (Music & Lyrics), will begin previews Sunday, March 3 at the Al Hirschfeld Theatre (302 West 45th Street). Kinky Boots, directed and choreographed by Tony Award-winner Jerry Mitchell, opens Thursday, April 4, 2013. The cast and creative team met the press yesterday at the Al Hirschfeld Theatre, and BroadwayWorld's Richard Ridge was there for the festivities. Kinky Boots creators Harvey Fierstein (book) and Cyndi Lauper (music & lyrics) will sit down with New York Times theater reporter Patrick Healy as part of a New York Times TimesTalks on Monday, March 18th at 6:30 PM E.T. at TheTimesCenter (242 West 41st Street). The pair will discuss their collaborative experience on the hotly anticipated new musical; the evening will also include a performance by Kinky Boots stars Stark Sands and Billy Porter. For those not in the room, the conversation and performances will be streamed lived on the Web at www.Livestream.com/NYTimes.

There's a lot of love in the Kinky Boots rehearsal room at New 42nd Street Studios these days... so one of our fabulous, so-on-top-of-it-nothing-gets-by-him Stage Managers Thomas Recktenwald (thomas84nyc on Instagram) did a photo-shoot. We love photo shoots, Twitter and Instagram almost as much as we love shoes at Kinky Boots. Here are some of my favourites (and yes, I decided to use the British spelling of the word 'favourites' because our show takes place in the North of England and I am the proud owner of a British passport. Kate Middleton and I might as well be besties.)

Opening night remains set for Thursday, April 4, 2013.

ARTINFO's Patrick Pacheco and NY1 theater reporter Frank DiLella sat down with architect and producer David Rockwell to talk about his most recent set designs for the Broadway musicals Kinky Boots and the upcoming Houdini. Theater Resources Unlimited (TRU) has announced that Stark Sands, star of TV (Six Feet Under), movies (Pack of Dogs, Shall We Dance) and stage (American Idiot, Tony nominee for the Broadway revival of Journey's End) will be offering up a preview of the new incoming musical Kinky Boots by Cyndi Lauper and Harvey Fierstein at the 2012 TRU Love Benefit. The event will be held Sunday, November 11th with cocktails and hors d'ouevres at noon, luncheon at 1pm and performances at 2pm. Attendees will get a preview of a new Broadway song as well as a new venue: it all takes place at the wild and notorious Lucky Cheng's, which only just recently opened its new branch at 240 W. 52nd Street in New York's theater district.

According to the Chicago Tribune, Cyndi Lauper just wrote a new song for Kinky Boots, which is currently playing in Chicago. 'I Come to the Rescue,' which was featured in the Act 1, has been replaced by a song called 'Step One.' Lauper wrote the song last weekend and it was added to the show on Tuesday night. Additionally, book writer Harvey Fierstein has added 37 new pages to the script since opening night.
