OWN: Oprah Winfrey Network announced today it will air the star-studded primetime television event “Legends: OWN at the Apollo” beginning tonight, October 24

'A Celebration of American Creativity: In Performance at the White House' is a PBS music special taped in the East Room of the White House. President and Mrs. Obama will host the all-star music tribute celebrating the cultural resonance of art and literature in unique American musical forms.

"If I get my sh*t right, you're gonna move," Michael Garin declared from the Metropolitan Room piano, energy crackling through every fiber of his compact form as he leaned into the microphone. On September 28, Garin opened his new show, A Punch In The Mouth, banging out a muscular, unexpected boogie-woogie 'Habañera' arrangement of 'Surf Carmen' (Bizet-Kern, arr. Garin). A 1992 Drama Desk winner (for the show Song of Singapore), Garin often performs with his 'tattooed ex-ingenue' wife Mardie Millet, but tonight she sat in the audience, leaving Garin to fend for himself. For the next hour, Garin held court at the keyboard, reeling off his show biz stories, teaching music theory, and wandering into emotional family history. 

Yesterday (5 October), at the launch event in London for Motown the Musical, Cedric Neal (Berry Gordy) and Lucy St. Louis (Diana Ross) were announced to lead the cast in the West End production, opening at the Shaftesbury Theatre in February 2016.  With music and lyrics from the legendary Motown catalogue and book by Motown founder Berry Gordy, Motown the Musical is directed by Charles Randolph-Wright.  London previews will begin on 11 February 2016, with press night on 8 March 2016, with the show booking to 22 October 2016.

 Historic Motown group The Temptations return to The Orleans Showroom this weekend, Sept. 19 and 20 with members Otis Williams, Bruce Williamson, Terry Weeks, Ron Tyson and Joe Herndon.

The Adrienne Arsht Center for the Performing Arts of Miami-Dade County and Broadway Across America announced that tickets to four musicals out of its five-show 2015-2016 Broadway in Miami season will go on sale for the first time today, September 12, 2015, during the Center's ARTSLAUNCH2015.
