The West Coast premiere of Complicite's THE ENCOUNTER amazes with its cutting-edge technology of 3-D audio. Co-creator/performer Simon McBurney commands the Wallis stage as he recalls National Geographic photographer Loren McIntyre's 1969 photographic expedition into the depths of the Amazon rainforest. This autumn there's a new kid on the block in the rich diversity of theatres in London. Tucked away in the Ladbroke Grove area of West London on Latimer Road, just a ten-minute walk from Latimer Road tube station, The Playground Theatre will open its doors for the first time this October in a converted bus depot in one of the most culturally diverse areas of the capital.

The Encounter - among the most compelling theatrical experiences ever staged on Broadway and in London - will make its West Coast debut in April at the Wallis Annenberg Center for the Performing Arts in Beverly Hills.

While An American in Paris captures the dreamy glamour of old Hollywood, Simon McBurney rivetingly evokes its seedy, cynical underbelly, from backroom deals to drug busts and mobsters. Yet it is, in its own way, just as dazzling - a paean to Tinseltown myth-making as well as a blackly comic deconstruction.

Former English National Opera Artistic Director John Berry has launched a new, not-for-profit company called Opera Ventures.  It will produce opera and mixed media performances, workshops, classes and training.

Robert Evans is a stand alone figure in Hollywood's history, and his 1994 memoire was enough to draw him back into the spotlight after a lull. According to the NY Post, said memoire THE KID STAYS IN THE PICTURE opens this week in London and may end up filling a theatre on Broadway.

The debut Adelaide Festival from Artistic Directors Neil Armfield and Rachel Healy will mark a return to artistic works on a grand scale, with epic opera, theatrical spectacle under the stars and the biggest and most ambitious Festival hub in the event's history all set to dazzle in the 2017 program.

Joining Aisling Loftus and Matthew Needham in THE TREATMENT will be Gary Beadle, Ian Gelder, Ben Onwukwe, Julian Ovenden, Ellora Torchia, Indira Varma, and Hara Yannas. The Treatment begins previews at the Almeida Theatre on Monday 24 April and runs until Saturday 10 June.

Tenor Paul Appleby, the 2011 George London Award winner who, it was recently announced, will be in the cast of the world premiere of John Adams's Girls of the Golden West with San Francisco Opera next season, teams up with mezzo-soprano and 2015 George London Award winner Sarah Mesko and pianist Ken Noda for the season's second event in the George London Foundation Recital Series at The Morgan Library & Museum on Sunday, March 5, 2017, at 4:00 pm.

Award-winning actor John Lithgow ('67 ArD '05) is the recipient of the 2017 Harvard Arts Medal, which will be awarded by Harvard University President Drew Gilpin Faust at a ceremony on Thursday, April 27, 2017 at 4 pm at the Loeb Drama Center, 64 Brattle St., Cambridge.

Following an extensive two-year renovation, San Francisco's Curran is set to re-open this month with the groundbreaking Tony Award-winning musical Fun Home.  Performances begin January 25 (running 4 weeks through February 19) with an official opening night set for Thursday, January 26 at 8:00 pm.

Five-time Obie Award-winning theater company Clubbed Thumb has announced their second cohort of early-career directing fellows.

Under the leadership of General Manager Bernard Foccroulle, the 69th season of the Festival d'Aix-en-Provence will present an exceptional collection of artists from around the globe in five major opera productions and 16 recital, chamber music and orchestral concerts from July 3 through 22, plus more than 60 events from the Academie du Festival d'Aix.

TimeLine Theatre Company continues its 20th Anniversary season with a daring new production of A DISAPPEARING NUMBER, the exquisite 2007 play by Complicite about love, math and how the past and future connect. Winner of the 2007 Critics' Circle Theatre, Evening Standard, and Laurence Olivier awards for Best New Play, it was originally conceived and directed by Simon McBurney and devised by the original company. TimeLine's new production of A DISAPPEARING NUMBER will be directed by Associate Artistic Director Nick Bowling.
